Way too early to tell. We had one game last year against an offense anywhere near as good as UT last night and it was at home.

Also did a decent job of shutting them down in the first half.

Second half - it took him too long to adjust. But the initial game plan of forcing Sam to throw to beat us looked solid for a half.

Seriously! Are you this clueless....Give some credit to their Qb and their scheme. Defense was indeed gassed and injuries/cramps played a role (that's a different issue).

But after one game on the road in the heat against a top ten opponent and to say we have a horrible defense, is well, just clueless!

You sir are correct. Texas is a very good team and well coached.

I’m more concerned about our fatigue and conditioning in the 2nd half than Aranda and the defense. Hopefully the reasoning for the cramping was the poor decision not to give IVs at half time.
I trust Aranda

We need to tackle better. Someone posted last night about the 2011 D giving up similar yards v WV Perspective people

The D had issues, but they are incredibly talented and Aranda will get this fixed. Sometimes it's actually a good thing to get humbled. I expect them to come back hungry and focused.

I may be critical about their play last night, but I'm not worried at all.

2nd game of the year against a top 10 school at their home. Yes, I would like the "D" to have been better and they will need to gt better. Too many cramps which is a conditioning issues. They need to play all of next week's game to get in better game shape!

This board makes it embarrassing to call myself an LSU fan sometimes.

I felt like we were doing well enough until Lawrence went out. After that we struggled getting pressure up the middle.

Mallveto says, “Hold on, you want to see some more Danny McCray covering Percy Harvin?”

Yes. Worst defense we've had this year, and it's not close.

Key injury hurt us here, Lawrence being out mattered. I’m assuming Shelvin and Ika aren’t in when obvious passing situations arise, but maybe they could have pressured up the middle. Maybe.
On the bright side, teams normally have a rough game or two each year. This was a rough game for the defense, BUT we were victorious despite that! When is the last time we could say that?
The defense probably won’t be perfect going forward, but the great thing is that they don’t have to be. I do however expect the defense to be much better going forward.

We won’t have another game in that kind of heat, (not on the road anyway) and we shouldn’t be scared to take a couple risks here and there with the offense we have.

We have guys to pressure the QB, we need to scheme it to get that pressure.

This is a dumb question. UT has a great OL, very good dual threat QB, and a good offense minded HC that always has his team ready for big games and they play best as the underdog.

So to see the D struggle at times is understandable. The long UT drive in 3rd changed the game. They were gassed after that and looked different. So my only concerns is DL play, conditioning, and play calling by Aranda to help them stop the bleeding. But in no way do I think this D is not good. It is very good. They were playing a very good offense.
