What a game!! Offensively, how awesome was that!!? It’s nice not to complain about dropped passes from our receivers (they caught everything within a NY City block).

My only question is where was the blitz? The last Texas drive before the half we blitzed twice and forced bad throws or got a sack. The other times we blitzed (very limited) we had success.

However we rarely brought more than the front 4. Just curious on why? Chaisson was shut down when rushing with no blitz.

Other than that, awesome game and awesome win!! Loved seeing us respond the way we did.

Geaux Tigers!!

We had no gas in the 4 qtr and you are wondering why we didn't blitz? Good lord.

No... throughout the game really. Obviously we had cramping issues later in the game. But it just seemed obvious we had success when we blitzed, but we didn’t continue with the strategy.

I was there and I saw them blitz a lot in the second half. They were choppin Klavon and sending Queen up the middle. Qween was not getting through so one time Klavon went middle and Quenn went left Side that's when 18 sacked their QB. Was expecting better results but he got the ball out pretty quick. They had practiced on keeping Klavon out.

Hope this makes some sence long day.:

Chaisson stunted up the middle on their 2nd to last possession of the first half allowing us to stop them with a 3 and out and score before half.

He had all day to pass...you need to watch the game on TV. Their left tackle pretty much engulfed Chaisson most of the night...not sure how you practice for that lol

My friend, I have no doubt that you were there. But those of us who watched at home can see the exact same plays, and with a closer view. There was absolutely not much blitzing at any point in this game. I was saying the exact same things as the OP, while I was watching, which is that every time LSU DID blitz, it was successful.

And you mentioned that they were getting the ball out quick. That's not really true. Ehlinger stood around in that pocket forever on a very large number of his throws. You simply cannot allow that. There comes a point in a game like this, where you don't have the excuse of "we just don't want to get beat over the top". That only meant that the defense was slowly bleeding to death, as it were. It made no sense to play back the way they did.

But our offense was incredible. And THAT was delightful to see.

Agreed. It seemed obvious that we had success when blitzing. That was my frustration. Why not force Ehlinger more? When we did... there was a positive outcome.

Yeah your right but a lot of times I saw another guy come at his feet. He got close a couple of times but looked gassed at times too, that tackle was good. They need to figure it out.

Ehlinger isn’t very accurate when pressured either

They were blitzing Queen a lot in the middle and he just ran into the line is what I saw??

I could only see it when the defence was defending from the lsu end Zone?

Chaisson was absolutely mugged all night too. Never seen a single player held, pulled down so much in one game that I can recall. Texas LT got away with a whole lot that shouldn't have flown. It's too late to finish but I just rewatched the first quarter and saw at least 8× that a flag should have been thrown for infractions against KC.

I agree with TigerAxe, there was a lot of holding that didn't get call, but i thought we should have been more aggressive

We were playing containment. Coming into this game, you make erhlinger beat you with his arm. He obviously has a good arm but that wasnt his strength coming into this.

Not on 3rd and long. Look at UT's scoring drives in the second half. How often did Ehlinger convert on 3rd and long, like 3rd and 9, 10, or 11 long, when LSU just rushed four and dropped seven into coverage? It was maddening. Bring some heat in at least some of those situations and the game's probably not that close.

Congrats on the win. Go Joe!

And Todd Orlando blitzed almost every down and it left his D really vulnerable. There's a give and take. Maybe it could have been worse. I think they tried to limit Ehlinger to beating us with his arm instead of him getting loose, running, and creating broken-play magic, which is his specialty.

However, the dude almost beat us with just his arm. He played out of his mind tonight.

Missed tackles on both sides. Delpit had a terrible game. A lot of times LSU had the right defense called and just couldn't make the play.

Agree.

I believe late we were gassed and were counting on a pick that never came. Also at the 4 minute mark if we allow them a quick touchdown that means we get the ball one more time and they do as well, with a defense that can't stop them.

Better to hope for a penalty, errant throw. The DB's are this teams strong suit. Looks like the coaches put their money there instead of an area were Texas is holding our players with no flag.
