re: Suggestions for where an old tree was
Posted by Tigeralum2012 on 5/12/25 at 10:14 pm to Tree_Fall
Thank you! Give me so much hope for what I had planned… not! Lol. But keeps my ideas in check. I have noticed the sinking 16 months later. Grass is surviving, but not thriving. So I appreciate the explanation on why that’s happening.
I think a raised flower bed or letting the weak grass grow are my best options for the time being.

Suggestions for where an old tree was

I had a water oak that we cut down. Loved it, but obviously not suited for south Louisiana and was already dropping limbs.
I tried planting a crepe Myrtle just to see what would happen and, as expected, it has struggled. We ground the stump of the oak, but there’s still lots of roots just beneath the ground.
Any suggestions? Open to any and all ideas.

I just used Pelican Roofing. Absolutely would recommend in the Slidell area.

Played The Island for the first time today and it was a lot of fun and in great shape! It was wet in certain areas obviously, but overall a really fun track and in pretty good shape, aside from a few spots on certain greens. $71 for 18 holes on a Sunday

Save yourself a lot of time and some money and just call an exterminator. I fought that battle for way too long and it was maddening. I called LaJaunie’s here in BR and it was the best decision I ever made. $230 up front and a monthly fee. Haven’t heard them since and all my other little bugs and flies are gone! Which wasn’t an issue, but nice to not have fruit flies from a banana you just bought 2 days ago ??

I'm actually going to look at it tomorrow at the PXG Store. I'm pretty confident with my new Bettennardi putter right now. But I want to see the new Allan Putter and roll a few with it and see the insert.
Been dying to try it but in BR so it’s not easy to get my hands on it here. Let us know!!

I always tell myself to accept a partner when the Marshall asks and I’m glad I do. I always enjoy the company even if I don’t seek it out.
But one time was unlike any other. My buddy and I were paired up with someone who said they were a scratch golfer at Doral who was there on a bachelor party. He was talking shite about the rest of the groomsmen who stayed out late to drink and passed on a tee time at Doral.
He was strait laced and living up to the “scratch golfer” title until the back 9. At some point he went to pee in the bushes and we looked over to see him ripping a line off his finger. Dude became a wild card for a few holes til he pulled out a joint a couple holes later. He was legit for awhile and I was here for his vibes on the back 9… didn’t mind any of what we saw tbh. But he went from scratch golfer to Wyndham Clark at the open in the blink of an eye. We were here for it

Dang man. Hope you are good! I saw the Houston area got rocked, especially with power outages. All the best.

Bopper, did you pull the trigger on one?

I have the Sycamore 007 blade putter, similar to the classic Wilson 8802. It’s a secondary putter that’s more for fun than anything as I game an Odyssey Mallet putter for my primary.
While I’m guessing you aren’t looking for that particular type of putter, I have to say I’m super impressed by it. The build quality is exceptional and the feel is shockingly very good. I’d imagine their putters wouldn’t disappoint based on my experience.

I try to play a round differently than I normally would. That could mean anything from different tee boxes, only using certain clubs in the bag, best ball against myself, etc. Just something to keep it fresh and remember it’s just a game. Usually when I play bad it leads to frustration and I try to get over that quickly, and doing that tends to help.

Don’t sleep on Schneider's Golf Mechanics on Bluebonnet. Indoor golf simulators are great. And owner is even better.

Have him hit water balloons and explode them
THIS! I found myself one time getting frustrated with my 7 year old daughter because she would make a good swing and then change everything the next swing. I looked up some pointers and blogs and realized at that age, it’s just important to expose them to it in a fun way. In order for them to eventually get good and take lessons, they first have to want to keep doing it.
As stated by other posters, the fact that they’re spending time with you is enough. I got into golf because it was an opportunity every few days to go out with my dad. Eventually I found something fun to do (play near the pond, throw golf balls close to the hole, etc.) And then it just grew from there.
But the water balloon thing… my daughter loves it!!

I’ll second the Maxfli Tour X. That’s a really solid ball for something cheaper. I play ProV 1X when I’m playing on weekends, and Maxfli Tour X when just messing around or playing a quick 9

I was gaming the G400 for a long time and just recently upgraded to the Cobra LTDX. It’s pretty awesome and shockingly forgiving (especially coming from a Ping). I also wanted to stay somewhat in your price range, hence why I went with last years Cobra model. It was $300 brand new.
Also, if you’re in BR, the local Edwin Watts has a bunch of Demo drivers for sale. I want to say the G425 is $350 for a “like new” version. Plus you can hit it in the bay before buying.

re: What’s your go-to swing thought?
Posted by Tigeralum2012 on 9/12/23 at 4:40 pm to Big L
Golf is a funny thing. I usually get in my head when I’m playing well. Was pacing to break 80 today (+4 through 13) for the first time ever.
I will blame being tired, but all day I was relaxed. And on hole 14 I thought I was relaxed, but realized a few holes later that each time I was over the ball I was REALLY thinking about my swing mechanics. Like thinking about every part of it, and it got to me. Finished the last holes bogey, bogey, double, bogey, double. Ughhhhh.
I thought when I was in position to break 80 I would be trying to keep calm from excitement. But it was the sneaky swing thoughts that got me.
Maybe next time!

My wedges go 46, 50, 54 & 58. I barely use the 58 and would be just fine taking it out of the bag.
I would second this. I added a 60 and would be fine removing it. I’ve practiced multiple shots with my Gap and 54 degree and just become extremely comfortable with those. Am I able to hit every shot with those lofts? No… but I realized I save a lot more strokes being ultra comfortable with those clubs. The 60 just has too many variables that can cost me shots

Once that coating is on (I assume I would paint the inside?), could I frame it out and use standard fiberglass insulation? Thanks for your input! Really appreciate the insight.

I used sunlight contractors and couldn’t recommend enough. They were amazing. Open cell spray foam in attic for an old home. 2,200 sq ft back in 2021. It was $1.84/sq ft
