Dr Love is a pretty cool song but everything else to me just kinda sucks and that especially goes for I wanna Rock and roll all night and party every day. Is it just their live shows that make them so popular?

I like some of their earlier stuff, mainly for nostalgic reasons. Detroit Rock City, Black Diamond...

But yeah...it's not the best stuff around.

That's ok I can't stand Tom Petty. Guy was great once upon a time but overplay and banality incrementally took all the pleasure away.

btw: Yeah, I've seen KISS live and they got the crowd going which indeed made for an evening of fun.

I can’t stand any of that glam rock or whatever you want to call it.

It’s not the most creative or innovative music, but I find a lot of their songs fun.

I never was a fan

I couldn’t take them seriously. And I was not impressed by the musicianship.

They fricking suck. I can't stand them nor ACDC. I immediately switch the station or mute when either come on.

"I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day" has to be the laziest song ever made. frick lets just sing about pipe dreams. I want a billion dollars and to have a 3some with 11/10s but you dont see me singing about that

They have a handful of songs I like but aren't a band that I own any music from. I might go to one of their shows just to check it out, assuming the ticket was free.

Love "Hard Luck Woman", KISS did have talent. Gene was not the most talented but Ace & Peter were.

Liked them as a kid but rarely listened to any of their stuff later. Then I caught a concert a few years ago, and it was awesome. Going to see them again in a few weeks.

It was never about music with KISS. They dressed like super heroes in the 70's and their concerts were full of innovative at the time gimmicks. They hit big because no one else was like them and they were plastered everywhere because of what they looked like and did. The music was always second fiddle and it showed. I love KISS but I know what they are.

you'll find a lot of folks sharing your opinion.

I enjoy Kiss and their live shows are awesome. I'm not on the hate Kiss bandwagon.

46 years in the business and still selling out arenas while most bands their age have quit, or dead, or playing casinos. Put some respect on that.

I agree. Kiss has never done anything for me. Although they are marketing geniuses.

I think your perception of KISS is very dependent on your age. I fall right into that perfect KISS niche - when they were really at their peak (Destroyer/Love Gun/Alive I & II), I was 10-12 years old. I wasn't really "into" music yet, but KISS was a spectacle and was putting out some solid songs back then. Fast forward to my high school years, and it was the prime hair metal era. At that point I was really into bands like Motley Crue, Ozzy, Queensryche, etc. - perfect high school fodder. KISS was an afterthought musically, but a KISS concert was still a fun time. Jump ahead to my college years, when I put a little more thought into the music I listened to, and Metallica/Megadeth were in their prime.

But for people my age, KISS hit at just the right time (pre/early teens). They will always hold a sentimental place, and occasionally crank out a good song, but it was more about the live shows and the spectacle. That being said, I will always consider Destroyer to be a top 10 album of all time, and there is ample evidence that they influenced just about every other metal band out there. So those who completely write them off as a joke don't have a solid leg to stand on.

I often enjoy eating meat but I'd be perfectly happy to never eat a Slim Jim again in my lifetime. Some things are just a mystery, aren't they?
