Trump wasn’t always so linguistically challenged.

What could explain the change?
We were discussing Trump's obvious mental deterioration in public appearances in another thread, and I just noticed an article talking about this from over two years ago, showing this is something that has not just started lately.
It's interesting, because the speech professionals interviewed did not take the viewpoint that Trump has always struggled with the English language, on the contrary they point out that he was very articulate in public appearances in his younger years.
Interesting these guys had recognized the deterioration early on.

It's interesting, because the speech professionals interviewed did not take the viewpoint that Trump has always struggled with the English language, on the contrary they point out that he was very articulate in public appearances in his younger years.
quote:
It was the kind of utterance that makes professional transcribers question their career choice: “ … there is no collusion between certainly myself and my campaign, but I can always speak for myself — and the Russians, zero.” When President Trump offered that response to a question at a press conference last week, it was the latest example of his tortured syntax, mid-thought changes of subject, and apparent trouble formulating complete sentences, let alone a coherent paragraph, in unscripted speech.
quote:
He was not always so linguistically challenged. STAT reviewed decades of Trump’s on-air interviews and compared them to Q&A sessions since his inauguration. The differences are striking and unmistakable.
quote:
In interviews Trump gave in the 1980s and 1990s (with Tom Brokaw, David Letterman, Oprah Winfrey, Charlie Rose, and others), he spoke articulately, used sophisticated vocabulary, inserted dependent clauses into his sentences without losing his train of thought, and strung together sentences into a polished paragraph,
quote:
For decades, studies have found that deterioration in the fluency, complexity, and vocabulary level of spontaneous speech can indicate slipping brain function due to normal aging or neurodegenerative disease. STAT and the experts therefore considered only unscripted utterances, not planned speeches and statements, since only the former tap the neural networks that offer a window into brain function.
quote:
John Montgomery, a psychologist in New York City and adjunct professor at New York University, said “it’s hard to say definitively without rigorous testing” of Trump’s speaking patterns, “but I think it’s pretty safe to say that Trump has had significant cognitive decline over the years.”
quote:
Johnson cautioned that language can deteriorate for other reasons. “His language difficulties could be due to the immense pressure he’s under, or to annoyance that things aren’t going right and that there are all these scandals,” he said. “It could also be due to a neurodegenerative disease or the normal cognitive decline that comes with aging.” Trump will be 71 next month.
Interesting these guys had recognized the deterioration early on.

He uses small words on purpose, you idiot. He is easily the most charismatic and skilled public speaker in politics.

The dumbest pols in the history of our great land have represented your filth, yet this is the best you all can come up with on Trump?

So, you link an article from 2 years ago to demonstrate that his mind is deteriorating.
You might want to rethink that.

Once again, allow me to educate your ignorant Far Left arse:
1) The goal is EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION. President Trump isn't a Shakespearean actor; He's a POLITICAL LEADER. Did you see how he resonated with that crowd in New Hampshire? Dude, you're watching the greatest communicator of the 21st century. You honestly can't see that?
2) President Trump could read a fancy speech from a teleprompter, much in the same way that your Messiah Barack Obama did (Obama actually had to read a prepared speech because he turned into Stuttering Sam when he went off-the-cuff). Trump has a better way to communicate than that.
3) Please tell your sister I found her panties. They were hanging from the chandelier in the dining room.

Is this one of those OPs where you come back and explain these are Biden quotes?
Because Biden has been worse than this for 40 years.

You're totally wrong.
Trump is the best extemporaneous speaker we've had in the presidency since JFK. In formal addresses he reads text off the prompter like other candidates have done for decades. But when he's in a rally he uses a prepared outline and then speaks naturally without text from the prompting of the outline points.
Obama could not do that. Everything was off text because he was too stupid to speak extemporaneously.
That's why his few attempts were composed mostly of:
'Uh, Duh, Well ya know, Uhm.'
The speed at which Trump speaks in unprecedented. His WPM is way above any president since microphones were invented. This is a sign of a very sharp brain. Dull people speak slowly. Obama spoke V E R Y
S L O W L Y.
Trump was no doubt more articulate 20 years ago. That's aging. Rush Limbaugh today is very articulate but if you heard clips of him 20 years ago he was much quicker and concise in constructing extemporaneous thoughts than he is today.
