call and threaten to cancel your car insurance

ive been calling GEICO every few weeks for years trying to get an answer to why my premiums are what they are and get them down. im usually v nice but today off the bat i told them "yall are gougin me im cancellin yall and goin to progressive" and lo & behold the guy finds a $95 dollar discount ive been eligible for since 2013. i ask why the other agents didnt give it to me the countless other times ive called and he says he's a higher-tier "specialist". i say "ok is there another tier above you? kick me up the ladder... put the frickin lizard on the phone."
long story short these insurance agents are crooks.. call and cuss em out see if they dont find some magic discount for you.

Louisiana has one of the highest car insurance rates in the country so its always gonna be high here. Could always just go with The General or GoAuto.

I'm pissed off at Geico right now and may legitimately change carriers. I hate to do that because they've been pretty good so far. They used to email me all my statements and ID cards and whatnot. A while back I stopped receiving them so I got on their website and requested that they email me my ID card. Nothing. I did it again. Again nothing.
So I contacted them (via an online customer service form) and told them what was going on. I heard nothing back. Lather, rinse, repeat a couple of times and now I'm really frustrated with them. Finally a customer service guy called me. I explained what was going on and he tried sending me an email through the automated system. I didn't get it. He tried again using a different system ("regular" email I guess) and I received it. So we determined that something in their automated email system is rejecting my email address. He said he would report it to the IT folks and try to get it fixed. Also said he'd call me back in a few days to let me know what was going on.
I didn't hear anything for a few weeks but then I got another call from him. He said that the IT people told him it was a problem on my end (of course). I said how can it be on my end when you sent me an email and I received it but the email through the automated system didn't go through? He didn't have an answer for that but basically said there wasn't anything further he could do.

Insurers punish loyalty. Don't threaten to change, actually shop around and change. I cut my bill in half.

Been listening to the Insurance Network of Louisiana push by Moscona on ESPN radio forever, so I decided to call one day. I didn't know that I had State minimum, cause I was with State Farm for 25+ years and obviously they didn't give a crap. More than doubled my coverage and saved almost $400 annually. There are other insurance brokers out there. Worth a call.
