I thought these new Baton Rouge taxes were supposed to synchronize

The traffic lights within months. How come this has not been completed yet? It was supposed to be the first and easiest thing for them to do.
Broome is the worst mayor in Baton Rouge history. She’s a lying sack of pit bull dog feces. I’m sure she will start up a new committee to figure out why it hasn’t been done. I’m positive the local newspaper won’t question her or point this out to the public.

They have to study it first. Can't just go out and change them all willy nilly.

It's absolutely maddening how horribly the lights are timed on every major surface street in this city.
Posted on 7/24/19 at 4:12 pm to Lickitty Split
This is the tax most of the people on this board supported because “our streets need it.”
I knew it would be wasted.

The only things they are studying are catered lunches and the bottom of cocktail glasses.

Well, traffic and red lights were screwed up 30 years ago and some of the same people who were in charge then are still in charge now.

Lol at anybody voting for a tax expecting that tax money to do what was promised

I didn’t vote for it but I’m pissed that they aren’t even implementing what they said they were when they said they would.
This just reminds me of the work going on at Lee and Nicholson that is going on a year now. It was supposed to be completed last year.
DPW directors responsible should be fired, contracts should have penalty provisions when not timely completed .

I though kip raised a tax for this when he was in office. I remember him talking about it.

The light at Airline and Old Hammond is perfectly synchronized to frick up traffic in all four directions.

A shocking revelation.

Pretty sure the new software for the upgraded system is not expected to go online until fall.

laying several miles of cable isn't going to get done overnight... It's only been 8 months since the tax was passed. While yes, this is probably the easiest project in MoveBR, it still takes a good bit of planning and coordination. I'm no SWB fan, but let's try to be somewhat realistic here..

Except the administration pushed this as if it would be done almost overnight.
All they have done so far is figure out how to slice the pie and give work to as many PMs and subs as they could.

Actually the big thing was that this could be done very quickly. I’m being realistic about what was told to me by our mayor who pushed for this tax.
By the way, I see th e rapid transit thing is going to happen now. I’ve never quite understood its purpose. Are they trying to bus the criminal element from the plank road corridor down to LSU for some particular reason? The only plausible reason is for the employees that live there but even that isn’t a significant amount from plank road. They are from baker and Zachary not Plank.

If you question her because she is a female POC, you are automatically racist. No doubt about it.
She is a strong black female leader trying to makes changes and how dare you question her.

Your tax dollars went into effect on April 1st
The Advocate from March 30th
Do y'all not keep up with this stuff? Just complain without looking anything up first?
Tax didn't take effect until April 1st. Did you expect them to just press a button that synchronized all the lights? I know we all like to bitch about studies, but you 100% want studies for signal synchronization. Every traffic signal has an impact on the traffic load at other signals. How many traffic signals are in EBR? Idk, but you don't want a half assed job implementing it... While it's not an automatic fix, it will be the first thing you notice and the first thing complete, which is exactly what was promised. Mainly because it doesn't require any sort of construction or traffic diverting.
ETA: I can understand complaining about the how the PM decision took forever. They say it's not taking long in comparison, but I don't follow other cities infrastructure taxes. Just seems like they could have had that stuff all figured out prior to 4/1/19. Either way I don't think this stuff would be done by now.
ETA2: They have started clearing land across from Kenilworth @ Perkins. Could be work on the Hennesy/Perkins connector (w/ railroad underpass). Don't know what else it would be.
The Advocate from March 30th

But it could be fall before drivers start to see signs of their tax money at work actually providing traffic relief.
The city-parish first has to hire program managers to prioritize the more than 70 projects outlined in the roads improvement plan. And that likely won't occur until the summer, said Kelvin Hill, Broome's assistant chief administrative officer overseeing the city-parish public works departments.
Although that schedule could feel like forever to drivers frustrated by the region's traffic woes, Hill says the city-parish has an aggressive timeline to get the projects moving forward.
"This is moving extremely fast," Hill said. "If you look at other big cities that have done big projects like this, it usually takes them a year or so to get organized."

Since when does the government spend money wisely?
Taxes as a percentage of wages have gone up for decades, yet infrastructure just keeps degrading.
