Hypothetical situation but CenturyLink relocates. What happens to Monroe?

My prediction is that it would turn into Mogadishu/Fallujah shite hole. Try going to the mall at night.I means it's already a dumbster fire but it seems like CenturyLink is the lifeblood of the city. What do you Monroe Baws think?

I don't think it's going anywhere as long as Blackie Post is still on the board. The current CEO wants out of here, he don't even live in Louisiana. He wants to move to Colorado.

Monroe has the university and its the only city of any size for a hundred or so miles in any direction, so it's a regional hub. Losing Centurylink would be a blow but not a fatal one.

Didnt they just build a massive state of the art data center at their campus like less than 6-7 years ago?

If so, they likely aren’t going anywhere fast and even if they are they will have some sort of functioning campus with staff as secondary/backup site

State Farm bailed on Monroe and put lots of people out of work. Maybe you Monroevians can tell us how that affected the area?

It will hurt the economy seriously. As long as the structure stands, they still have to pay property tax. State farms reason for leaving years ago was "lack of intellectual capital". I suspect CenturyLink has 5x employees state farm had.

My cousins just built a new house there. Seems like a terrible decision to invest in a town that could basically go belly up in 10 years.

Then Monroe would become Alexandria.
