From Charles Robinson of yahoo:
From Charles Robinson:

On the Michael Thomas contract talks: Sources say the #Saints have offered a deal averaging between $18-$19 million a year. Thomas would like to be the first $20 million wideout in the #NFL. A $20 mil per year average w/ the right structure/guarantees would likely get it done.

On #Saints Michael Thomas as GM Mickey Loomis talks: Sources say Loomis's frustration is simple. The Saints have offered to make Thomas the highest paid wideout in the NFL, with a contract that solidly exceeds Odell Beckham Jr. Loomis feels it's a great offer w/ great structure.

Then what’s the harm in bumping it to 20 if that’s what makes him happy? Difference between 19-20 isn’t going to hurt the team

5/100mil extension
60mil guaranteed
20mil signing bonus
Call it a day.

It is, but $20 million is going to be the number for top WRs. Beckham already makes 18, Antonio Brown and Mike Evans make 16.5, Hopkins and Cooks make 16.2.
Thomas will get his $20 million, but it might instantly be passed by Julio Jones or Amari Cooper

I'm good with 20, sign the deal

Yep. Cooper is good, but he isn't worth 20 mil.

This will get done by the end of training camp. Drew’s contract is about to come off the books so it makes too much sense to keep Thomas. Despite his antics sometimes, he’s beloved by the coaches and players because he plays so damn hard.
Lock him up

If that's the case (which would be ridiculous btw) then we need to sign him before they sign those guys. Cause MT will probably want more than what they get if we haven't locked him up by then

Thomas, Julio Jones and Amari Cooper are all slow playing their contract negotiations so they aren’t the first to sign. Nobody wants to set the market.
That being said, he will get $20M, just accept it Saints fans.

This is old news, reported weeks ago

Yep. Julio reportedly will get $22M.
Lock up MT now at $20M and he still gets to say he is the NFL's highest paid WR, albeit temporarily.

I believe that Saints fans should be ecstatic that (reportedly) Thomas is NOT looking to slow play things to finish the off season as the highest paid wr in the league. If he is willing to sign now....make it work, now.

Cooper is gonna get $20 million because the cowboys always overpay. It’s the same reason Dak is gonna get $30+ million.

Certainly hope it gets done soon, because the front office will need all the time they can get to prepare for Kamara's extension next season. Don't want to see a Melvin Gordon or Zeke Elliot situation unfold 12 months from now.

Brees is 20 mil against the cap no matter what next year because we've kicked the can down the road. He's 6 million on the 2021 cap as well.

This board should be much more concerned about the upcoming Kamara extension. The market for top receivers in today's nfl with todays salary cap is going to be around 20 million, get over it. Same with paying an in his prime top ten QB over 30 million. That's just the league. RB though.....I mean every advanced stat says they aren't worth it. The Rams already have buyer's remorse over Gurley. The Chargers are rightfully hesitant to give Gordon a huge new contract. The Steelers rightfully refused to give Le'Veon a huge extension.
It's going to be interesting to see what the saints do and what this board thinks when Kamara wants 10+ mill a year.
