Would the difference in weight for that second that they’re in the air to the time they all come down back to the surface at the same time cause enough of a shake up in the earth’s rotation that the day gets ever so slightly longer or shorter by a second or some other measure of time?

If everyone weighed as much as the average American we’d be flung out of the solar system

If shorter—do it in the middle of the week. If longer—do it Friday at 5.

Nope. The amount of space dust that has fell on the Earth is much, much more than the weight of the population.

Estimates vary of how much cosmic dustand meteorites enter Earth's atmosphere each day, but range anywhere from 5 to 300 metric tons, with estimates made from satellite data and extrapolations of meteorite falls.

I've witnessed 100k people in Tiger Stadium attempt to clap in time with the band enough times to know how microscopic the odds of this happening are.

What if they all run in place with or against the rotation? Could we speed it up or slow it down? Like a huge treadmill

Trying to get everyone to jump at exactly the same time will always fail.
