I enjoy a mild buzz now but no longer enjoy getting shitfaced. Hurts too much the next day.

How else am I supposed to get rid of the shakes?

A little shot in the morning coffee to get going, then a small screwdriver around 10AM to get some healthy OJ, and I'm good til lunch.

Of course, at lunch, a couple of beers to wash down the Popeye's and that'll hold me until the VodkaSprite for the drive home.

Then, a couple bourbons on the rocks to make it until dinner, which, of course, a glass of wine goes great with.

Just can't let alcohol get ahold of you...

Those that partake heavily, what's the appeal?

Serious response, IMO there are three types of "heavy" drinkers and the appeal is different for each:

1. Binge drinkers - Drinks enough to puke, pass out, have memory lapses etc. during a single outing once or twice a week. Often regrets drinking that much the next day. Doesn't have the self-control while buzzed to stop. Probably doesn't even find the excessive drinking to be appealing. The appeal is usually a social element and the lack of self control leads to drinking heavily.

2. Consistently buzzed drinkers - Drinks enough to get a buzz on a daily or near daily basis. Has the self control to cut it off before becoming really drunk if desired. The appeal is the feeling of being buzzed, the relaxation, stress release, etc. and usually isn't driven by social needs or pressures. At risk of falling into category 3.

3. True alcoholic - Drinks so much so often for so long that they're physically dependent on alcohol and could have serious complications or die if they detox. There isn't really any appeal at this point.

Moderate drinking is fun for a weekend, but on a weekday it just leaves you groggy at work.

Light drinking is fine anytime.

But this is why more drugs like weed should be legal. Let's people mix things up instead of alcohol being the go-to drug.

A night's rest after weed is amazing, wake up feeling super refreshed.
