Sucked is a strong word. Relative to the Michael era, yes. Still better than 80% of sitcoms on TV. Had some very good episodes post Michael, just few and far between. The episode where the Dwights tranq Stanley is pretty damn funny.

the real problem with seasons 8-9 are the characters becoming caricatures of themselves to replace the void of Michael leaving. Oscar, Angela, Andy, Kevin, and Erin in particular.
There's a lot of Andy slander in this thread, but he was one of the best characters in the show seasons 3-7. "Michael....am I gay?", the "warmer...warmer...warmer" interaction with erin, the fight with dwight, his feud with gabe, his inability to jog without his nipples bleeding are just a few of his great moments that immediately come to mind.

Really, it started sucking when saber and Robert Kalifornia came on.
I am fresh off a rewatch, and 8 and 9 were mostly garbage but there were still some great moments. The backdoor pilot for the Farm was really a wasted episode, and it messed up one of the better plot points of the season with Packer fake making amends with everyone.
The finale was awesome. The only thing I would have changed was that the last pick up was Jim's and it should have been Dwight's since he was the series main protagonist.

None was bigger than Kevin. Even after Michael told him not to be a caricature of himself on his last day, the writers made sure he did.

How do you not know who Idris Elba is at this point?
When the Charles Minor saga comes up on Netflix, I just skip to Cafe Disco.
That saga is one of the most cringy parts of the show, bested only by Scott's Tots.

Agree. Kevin was basically mentally challenged by the time the show ended

It didn't get as bad after Michael left as I thought it would. Erin was awful though.

Erin was wonderful. And pretty. and smart. Shut up.
The show just became too Andy-centric. I don't care if he thinks he's a great singer; he's not. The Office version of Cop Rock just did not work for me.
And the guy just disappeared like 3 times? And still had his job?

It wasn't nearly as good, but it was still watchable. At least, compared to most network comedies in 2019.

There are still some classic post Michael episodes.
