Scherzer. You haven't heard about his broken nose from this incident? happened a week or two ago.

More offense the better who cares if the balls are juiced or not. Hell let the player do steroids too.

Furthermore, it has been my experience that people who have made good decisions in their life, worked hard to achieve some level of success are proud of their accomplishments.

People who have not made good choices, have been entitled, and not happy with their place in life, are big fans of change, and haven't accomplished very much.

There are some very successful people who still end up with nothing when all is said and done. I'll let you decide where Scherzer and politics fall in those regards.

Nope. Quit watching regularly not too long after I quit playing. Pretty much watch playoffs and 5-6 regular season games a year now (except LSU)

Don’t watch a shred of ESPN outside of live events so I’m out of the loop

Verlander wasn’t crying about it, he was putting it out there to get a response.

You can’t discuss for 3 months how HR’s are on a record pace then criticize a guy for criticizing it

If he had Scherzer’s stat line I would believe this. But a majority of his earned runs are from bombs. He is doing this because he is being personally affected by it.

Has Verlander not had an opportunity to go to an NL team in free agency?

Yes. The guy has never been a free agent in his entire career.

What a fricking beta

You're absolutely right. Scherzer is a complete beta for being a chicken shite company man who is too weak willed to call out obvious frickery by his corporate overlords.

Of course he's being personally affected by it.

Obviously, moreso than any other pitcher.

But you can't hardly watch a game anymore without seeing what would have been a warning track flyball go out of the park, and even to the opposite field.

There are many ex-pitchers, media members, and even hitters that are speaking out about it. I'm sure Verlander, being maybe the most respected present day pitcher, was encouraged by them to speak on the subject.

Personally, I'd like to see it scaled back, esp when I see cheap shots that determine the outcome of games, but in reality, my team seems prepared to take advantage of it more than most, and HRs definitely went our way in 2017, so...…….

But, I love and respect the game, and I don't feel the present day numbers allow for fair comparison to previous decades.

Scherzer is not struggling to get guys out at all and has a career low in HR/9 this season lmao
So Max is having a career year, even more impressive with juiced balls. Doesn't automatically say that with the same circumstances he wouldn't have given up less in recent years.

Took the mound the next day, went 7 scoreless and struck out 10.

Just so we're on the same page, you do realize Scherzer has had a better career than Verlander?

The issue wasn’t his toughness or makeup, it was pitchers being complete baseball players because they’re in the NL.

The batting practice pitcher's reaction is awesome. You can almost here "what the frick is wrong with you" from his body language:

I could be wrong, because they're very comparable, but the WS thing makes a difference for me.

A pitcher isn’t like a quarterback. He can’t win a championship with a mediocre roster all around him with guys that underperform.

Verlander and Scherzer are about equal, imo. I do not respect Verlander very much because of how he pitched in 2017 for Detroit and then how much he improved after immediately being moved to Houston. I could buy that improvement after an off-season of new mechanics and coaching, but not after a week.
