Anyone else sort of feel unexcited about the upcoming season?

I want to let it go. Part of me thinks that I have... but I just don’t have the same feeling of excitement and anticipation that I normally do this time of year.. I was sort of underwhelmed with the predraft hype, and wasn’t sure if it was due to the fact that we didn’t have a first rounder, but now that we’ve entered July, and I haven’t started my own mental countdown til the preseason, I’m concerned that the ‘no call’ has permanently tarnished my love for the nfl

Call me what you want. I agree, I should have forgotten about and moved on from the shitshow of the NFCCG, but I just can’t.. the nfl did NOTHING to ease my concerns about the shite that went down and I still hold some sort of resentment and ill will towards the league

Maybe all this will change. Maybe before the season starts I’ll snap out of it, but as of right now, I don’t see it..

I was just curious as to how everyone else felt.

Was thinking the same thing recently. Through no fault of the team, something has just been taken away from the game for me. I'm sure the excitement will mostly come back once the season starts, but definitely less than in years' past.

Part of my NFL fandom died with the no call

Same. I'm just kind of meh at this point. It's similar to how 1/9 made me start to take LSU football less seriously.

The league’s “shite happens” attitude ruined it for me. I’ll watch the Saints as entertainment but not invest in it like I have in the past. It’s apparent that some things are scripted in the league office.

As long as those referees who botched that no-call are active, I will not watch the NFL. If the questionable refs are still around, it will say to me that the league simply does not care about the integrity of the game.

Being in the stadium to witness that travesty first hand completely robbed the joy I had watching the NFL.

I’m looking forward to spending those Sundays in the fall with my wife to be instead of watching a fake product.

I'm with you a bit. It's gonna be a grind to get back to where we were in the playoffs the last 2 years.

I’d rather watch a tainted NFL

Love the Saints. I’ll ramp up when we get close to preseason.

I wouldn’t call it unexcited but I definitely don’t feel like I did last off-season. Crazy what 1 play can do.

Still not over it but will probably at least watch saints games, I usually pick one game a season and over pay for tickets to go and will most likely not do that this year. I am pumped about the pels though I will make a few games this season

Oh I’m not for one second going to act like I won’t watch the games or that I won’t be excited once the season kicks off... I’m just shocked at how long I’ve held onto this grudge

Between the no call and Ingram leaving I am very flat with the Saints and the NFL in general.

As a season ticket holder, when the invoice came in this year I sat down and actually had to think long and hard about it. If it wasn’t Drew’s (likely) last season, I’m not sure I would have renewed.

It feels like, at least in terms of what our boys can do in New Orleans, we were at the pinnacle. I’ve never heard the Dome like that, or seen a crowd pregame like that. To have it taken away has destroyed the NFL for me.

Now, I am sure as soon as the foot hits the opening kickoff against the Texans, I’ll be in a “frick the world” mentality and be even more into this season than many before, but in July it’s hard to see it.

frick the NFL. The PR disaster they allowed to ensue made it so much worse as a Saints fan.

Agree with you 100% and it's not just the fact we blew such a good chance. It's just hard to have sustained success in the NFL. We just had two really really good chances to play for our second SB. We had two really great seasons and it's just hard to have a third in a row. I know we did 09-11 but it's hard for so many reasons.

Sometimes the additions of certain players and loss of certain players can help or hurt you. We made some good moves on paper but we suffered what could be some key losses in personnel, especially some locker room leaders. I still feel good about our chances but we've also had decent luck with injuries. Look at the Falcons and those back to back good seasons they had with the SB berth and Divisional playoffs the year after. Both years they were hardly injured. Then last year they had some devastating injuries and pretty much ruined a whole season.

I'm not saying that will happen to us, but there are so many reasons and things that get in the way of a team being successful. We just had a perfect, gift wrapped second Lombardi and it just didn't go our way, after a season where almost everything did go our way. Not everything will go our way again. It doesn't have to, but last year felt like destiny. We were on a mission. You could just feel it. It felt special. This doesn't feel like that and probably won't unless we reel off 8 or 9 wins in a row. No. This feels like the swan song for the golden era of Saints football
