Watch gurus of the OT: I keep killing seikos

I just killed my 3rd 009 this year. I can't figure out what the deal is.
One died to water intrusion, the other two just...died.
Worn on non dominant hand. In office most days. Does see shop time and yard work.
I really don't want to go digital.

My 009 is a year old now and is as good as ever.
I wear it fishing, yard work, office, etc. All the time

Fakes maybe? I have an old seiko 5 that I treat like shite and it has never had a problem.

On Amazon from seiko. All parts look genuine when compared to homages I've had
Rotors get extremely rattly then stop holding wind.

Which hand do you jerk off with? They tend to fail due to repetitive motions.

You should almost have to try to kill a 7s26. Without an autopsy on the two that died without water being the cause, it is hard to say but repeated sharp impacts are one of the things mechanical watches don't like, hammering, golfing along with the high-frequency drone of motor and bicycling. There is anecdotal evidence that all of those are bad and all of those are fine also.
The lower end Seiko mechanical movements are like AK47s the low tolerances just let them run and run. There aren't may issues reported with the SKX009 just dying so it is likely something about how you wear them unless you have been very unlucky.

O negative blood types don’t work well with many watches. Some sort of body chemistry/electrify affects them.

I dated a girl named Saeko. I called her Psycho.

How is this even possible. They are only behind casio G-shock in terms of durability.

My Seiko SKX171 quit running on me for a second time, after an authorized service jeweler got it back running. Been sitting in a drawer for about a year now.
Got it off Amazon too, but they don't have them any more.
The jeweler told me I had to wear it all the time if I didn't want to have problems with it. Is this the truth?
I've got several watches, and like to switch them up.

I’ve really enjoyed my Samurai I bought last year and get a bunch of comments on it.
Here it is with new LCBI bezel . I rotate about 3 bands on it.

I had a cheap Seiko SNK809 that the counter weight got loose so I tightened it (with my pocket knife), then the weight fell off so I reattached (with JB weld). It worked until I fat fingered the hairspring a month or so ago. Watch lasted 6-7 yrs of daily hard use before I kilt it. I'd try tightening the weight thingy. Mine rattled and sounded like it had a bearing going out before tightening.

I like the samurais but never cared for the stock bezel. Aftermarket bezel is the way to go. That bezel is how I believe they should come. Nice watch

I'm betting on sharp impacts and high rpm engine drone through handlebars and steering wheel.
shite.
So digital is my only choice?

did your jeweler have to remove a hairball from it?

Fakes or you just have bad luck with mechanical watches and should stick to cheap Timexes and Casios. My daily beater is a Sports 5 7S36C and it hasn't skipped a beat with years of hard continuous use. When I don't wear it for more than a day or so it goes on a cheap winder. I've got 3 quartz Seikos, several decades old, and other than new batteries every few years they are still going strong.

I have a seiko 5 sports similar to this one that is my weekend beater for the past 3 or 4 years...yard work, gym, pools, showers...never take it off. If it ever dies, I'm buying another.

A quartz watch can handle just about anything your wrist can. Plenty of analog quartz watches. You could grab one of those or a GShock for when you are hammering or riding.
