I just killed my 3rd 009 this year. I can't figure out what the deal is.
The death of a Seiko automatic about two months ago is what let me to stop buying nice watches and pick up a Timex.

So, I should technically wait another couple of hours, but I'm likely to forget, so I just checked: I'm currently +9s from Watchville. So, account for the fact that I was -3s yesterday, and I'm +12s in about 22h. So for the sake of fairness, let's call it +13s/d for the last 24 hours. Mostly just lounging around, so not a particularly demanding day for testing accuracy, but regardless, obviously well within spec for the movement.

I'm now at +32s from Watchville after 72 hours. Add on the adjustment for starting -3s and that's +35s gain over that period. Which has me, on average, at just under +12 seconds per day.
Did you get that demagnetizer in yet?

I downloaded this app and synced my Steinhart on 7/5 around noon after reading this post. 10 days later, I'm +30s. 3 seconds fast per day. I'm blown away by that. The movement is the ETA 2824-2 elaborate.

Four Grades of ETA 2824-2:
Standard – adjusted in two positions; accuracy of +/-12 sec/day up to +/- 30 sec/day
Elaborated – adjusted in three positions; accuracy of +/-7 sec/day up to +/- 20 sec/day
Top – adjusted in five positions; accuracy of +/-4 sec/day up to +/- 15 sec/day
Chronometer
I'm beating the highest caliber "top" movement. Did I just get lucky and get a good one?

I didn’t. I started shaking it for a few seconds twice a day. I don’t know why, but it now seems to be off by seconds rather than minutes.
Doesn’t make sense though because I read that these things should have 40+ hours of run time on a full charge and the mechanics should keep it consistent regardless of being 5% or 95% left on main spring.
I also read that if magnetized, the pull will tighten the spring and cause them to run fast. My watch ALWAYS runs slow.
