Alright baws, just bought my first charcoal grill. I've never grilled before and was never taught about BBQing.

Any steps/advice ya'll can provide so I don't look like a huge doucher when I try to use this thing?

Do you want to know how to grill or Bar BQ?

Outdoor board would probably be your best bet if you really want to know.

Use lump charcoal. Only put charcoal on half the grill, not on the whole thing. You want hot and cold sides. That’s about it really.

Edit: oh yeah use a charcoal chimney

Soak the coals, let them sit for 10 min, hit them again and then light

Wait for coals to get white

First question, are you grilling or BBQing?

If just grilling, simple. Light the coals, and once they turn white hot throw the meat on and its the same process as a gas grill

If you are BBQing, well pull up a chair. How much time you got doc?

First, give these things a couple of clicks to make sure they still work.

Get grill hot --> Put meat on heat --> Profit

But really, get one of these. "Hardest" part is heating the charcoal. This makes it impossible to mess up.

I have a part-time gig as a BBQ Companion for hire.

Basically, I'll just stand next to you holding a beer while you grill, saying things like "Oh yeah" and "That one is mine ha ha" or "Might want to flip that one."

I don’t, but I’m assuming he’s starting with regular charcoal and it’s the simplest way

This. Never use lighter fluid again, these work so much better and you don’t have all those chemicals burning off on your food either

Al Bundy says that the secret to grilling was never cleaning the grill.

quote:

Ashes of the past make the burgers of the future.

And everybody loved his burgers so he must have been onto something.
