Do i need a little chimney (Coal starter)?
ITs really the best way. gets them going evenly and faster than any other method. You can use the starter cubes underneath or just simply some paper.

Get you a pellet smoker and you'll be ready to compete with Myron Mixon.

Check out HowToBBQRight on YouTube. He’s a north Mississippi guy who does competition BBQ, but his channel is geared more for backyard folks like us. He covers all the meats and many different techniques.
You’ll need a good thermometer. Thermapen ($95) is the absolute best, but a Thermapop ($30) is probably the best value. Experiment with smoking wood chunks. Pecan is my favorite as it is good on anything.
Practice. Cook something once a week.

The advice has been solid. Get a digital probe and instant read thermometer.
Get the charcoal chimney starter. Here is a tip...add about 10 match light brickets to the bottom of the chimney starter...then add the rest of the charcoal (regular)...add some newspaper at the bottom and light the paper.
Oil your grates and learn how to control the temperature by opening and closing the upper and lower vents.
Also remember...YouTube is your friend.
I cooked this last night

Within two minutes of lighting your coals presoaked in starter fluid put the burgers on so you don’t have to wait around needlessly.

people still do this?
I can’t stand that light match char coal shite.

Buy a gas grill unless you plan on smoking a bunch of meats

Get a meat thermometer
If you do nothing else do this. 50% of grilling is knowing when to stop grilling.

Never use lighter fluid again, these work so much better and you don’t have all those chemicals burning off on your food either
What chemicals burn off onto your food from using lighter fluid?
