When did TVs in bars become not cool?

Seems like every new bar that opens is all hip to the max with not A tv. Not asking for a wall of tvs but is a small flat screen or 2 to check scores really gonna kill the vibe that much?

What bars are you going to? And don't confuse clubs with bars or sports bars...

Stop going to gay bars. Problem solved.

If only we had a device we could carry around with us to bars and such where we could look up any score to any sport in a few seconds. THAT would be cool.

I mean if you want tv's around you. Why not go to a sports bar?

Probably dating back to the creation of the original drinking establishment.

Did anyone mention yet that you should stop going to gay bars?

I can’t remember the last time I went into a bar and there wasn’t a wall TVs. What bars are you going to?

even this shitty bar had a tv. a tv from 1950 but, it had a tv.

Say what you will about Radio Bar but it's a good atmosphere (sometimes) and there's no TV. Throwback to the old days with no TVs in the bar - forces you to actually interact and converse with people.
Although most Radio Bar patrons are not interested in sports on TV... maybe if they played Bravo or Lifetime

When the men became hipsters and gays and would prefer to toss bags and play tic tac toe as opposed to watching the big game.

there are thousands of bars in this city
You probably know which ones don’t have TVs and which do
That’s your problem

Bars with TV's were never cool. Go back to 1988 and Cocktail. The crappy neighborhood bar that Tom Cruise's Uncle Pat owned had a TV with the LSU-Georgia game on.
When Tom Cruise makes it to TGiFridays with Bryan Brown and they blow up like rock stars, there are no TVs in sight either at Friday's or that avant garde poetry bar.
That was 30 years ago. Only lame bars with Archie Bunker types have TV's on with CNN.
Sports bars are a different story.
A regular bar with a TV is only for fossils and alcoholics.

Why don’t you just go to your sports bars where you can watch your sportsball and leave me alone to enjoy my craft small-batch Super Bon Iver Porter IPA that only costs $14 per glass.
