I looked and they weren't even in the top 25 before regional play

Explain Michigan's baseball success
the Big Ten Network

Before then the Big Ten was getting one team into the NCAA baseball tournament (not playoffs, lets call NCAA basketball "the playoffs"), usually a 4 seed. Now with millions of dollars of investment the raw talent level of the Big Ten has increased to put periodic teams in the CWS and bring them up to the level of the other P5 conferences.

If Vandy wins Monday and Tuesday, did they really have any success? You probably don't think LSU had any success a couple of years ago.

Texas Tech coach is who we need. He's taking them to 4/5 CWS with not a lot of resources. I think Michigan just got hot at the right time like Coastal or Fresno State back in 08.

bet their hitting coach didn’t even play for Michigan. Pathetic.
how much did you lose.

The lack of awareness on how college baseball teams are coached is mind boggling

Not to mention drew two PAC teams that were awful. UCLA is probably the worst number 1 seed in memory.

Facts

They won their regional without having to play the 1 seed.

UCLA’s record was artificially inflated because the PAC 12 was a dumpster fire. Their tournament performances back this up.

Arkansas was the highest ranked team in their CWS bracket, and they didn’t have to play them either.

They are good, but they are also a product of the luckiest tournament draw ever.

If they beat Vanderbilt, I will give them total credit. It’s literally the first real team they played all tournament.

Pitching. Good pitching beats good hitting all the time. They have good pitchers, and left handed pitching, to boot.

Arkansas was 2 and barbecue. Out. Zero. Nothing.

Give Michigan credit.

We need to fire Paul and hire their coach ASAP.

Their coach has a very mediocre resume. Sometimes the stars align and you have a great season but it doesn't mean he has the ability to run a program that is consistently contenting for conference or national championships.

Michigan is a cold weather school which hurts but apparently they have the same built in scholarship deal that Vandy has so a lot of their players are getting full tuition paid for because of that which explains how all the inner city kids are able to be on their roster. Not to take away from their coach because he is really good and I'm guessing at some point he would love to get back to a warmer climate to even the playing field.

Big 10 doesn't provide enough quality wins and it's why Michigan was on the bubble to begin with. I don't think they had any series wins against NCAA regional field.

Bakich is from the Tim Corbin coaching tree and he can recruit really well.

At one time, Clemson, under Coach Jack Leggett, had Corbin, Bakich and Kevin Sullivan on his staff.
Not too shabby, but never won a Natty.

They recruit pretty good, and are pretty well rounded. If you look at their stats, its not a shock they made it to omaha, as they are near the top of alot of important statistics. Obviously luck plays a part.

Just imagine if they had the greatest of all time CPM. They would be even better. Instead they have that young dynamic motivator that all Michigan kids love playing for.

Do you idiots even recognize the irony of you stupid comments? You piss and moan every time LSU loses a mid week game. Say we are accepting mediocrity by just hosting a regional and “backing” into hosting a Super and are sitting here praising a coach and a team that was literally a strike away from not even making the postseason and then getting thru a regional without having to play the 1 seed and host a single game.

Michigan is basically showing you. EXACTLY what we mean when we say you have to see how the whole season ends up before declaring it a “failure”. They are just the latest example of “that’s baseball”

I think with the TOPS program we can be able to do the same. Michigan is a good team. However getting this far takes talent and luck. Michigan is peaking at the right time. It’s a well put together team. They have a phenomenal pitching staff and there lineup is good. The starters are great, the bullpen is good, they have speed on the bases, 4 guys with double digit homers, and they play good defense. Michigan is just fundamentally sound. They get the bunt down, they make the routine plays. I’m one of there games they had 10 (!) 2 out RBIs. They’ve been clutch. Next year LSU brings back a lot of pitching, if the pitching can be really good, and the hitting can be dynamic, we’ll be in Omaha.
