Houma was great in the 60’s - 80’s until the oilfield crashed the first time. Fishing and duck hunting was fabulous. Now everything is washing away. There have been drastic changes in Terrebonne Parish the last thirty years. I see a lot of no good ,don’t give a frick trashy people now. Living down the bayou was great years ago.

Come over and live we us. We don't mind. Plus, Trump is sending MILLIONS of illegals back as of today. Get here before the roads go bad and the roofs start leaking.

Houma

The land of fat bitches and skinny beards. I sometimes wonder if there are calories in the water supply.

As a Louisianan, I concur. The entire state minus a few small areas is garbage.

Yep for the most part the bayou communities are made up of those that can’t afford to leave and move up the bayou. The rest are camps that cost as much or more than most homes. I lived on the east side during high school in the 90’s and it has gone to absolute shite. Basically little Mexico now. The nice neighborhoods keep expanding out toward Schriever. This last oilfield crash has really set the town back. Starting to have big city type crime and the drug problems are horrible for a town it’s size. The idea of having to spend $20k plus a year to send my three kids to a decent school was a major reason we left.

The Houma Hooters is nice.

Mooyahs just opened in Houma and you'd think these motherfrickers never ate hamburgers and french fries before.

The public schools that I saw while there make this school look like Ellender. All brand new buildings. All brand new baseball, football etc fields with astro turf.

Texas invests more in prep sporting facilities than anybody.

Longview takes on West Monroe this year.

I went to Marshall to watch Longview take them on when Chris Ivory was one of their RB (he was actually the alternate with Vondrell McGee).

Longview usually has a team that looks more like a juco than high school.

this is what I see when I go home. West side of Houma is doing alright. Lawyers and doctors. east side and further down the bayou is pitiful. Still tied to GOM work. I don't think that will ever be what it was for O&G.

my HS friends who are still there are fed up with cost of living there. car insurance is a bitch for a couple with teenage drivers.
