5 years ago he was a golden child who everyone loved then after they go on there run everyone is rooting against the warriors and they seem to dislike steph. I don’t get this he seems like a guy who’s truly enjoying getting to play the game he loves. Is it because of LeBron and his fans and the fact he may have tarnished his career by basically coming out of nowhere and taking away championships from lebrons prime years or something? I get the dislike for the warriors as a whole and especially kd but I don’t understand why steph catches so much flak. Can someone enlighten me? Is it just a side affect of warriors fatigue and people tired of them winning as a whole?

He went from lovable little kid to smug a-hole.

Basically the KD effect. Everyone hates KD and it translated to disliking steph

Because he beats everyone’s favorite team and showboats while doing it.

The more he wins and the more he rubs it in the more people hate him.

I think he’s more portrayed as the greatest sharpshooter more than the greatest player.

I think there are parallels to Tom Brady. They and the Patriots/Warriors were a refreshing new face when they won their first titles. Now that they’re the front-runners, they come off as insufferable d-bags.

I also think there’s also a brush-back with Durant and the fact that he’s not doing with a traditional power—the team and their fan base are portrayed as front runners.

People hate winners. It is as simple as that.

People loved Magic, Bird, Jordan. It depends on the narrative connected with the player or team.

And it doesn't help that he plays in a city that most people here would love to see blasted off the map.

Did they at the time though? I’m sure there were plenty of haters, they just didn’t have the platform everyone has today.

The difference between the Patriots and the Warriors is that the Patriots didn't stack the deck by poaching an MVP-level player from a fellow title contender to stack onto their already title-contending team. That and the Patriots actually consistently beat healthy, evenly-matched teams.

As is 99.99999999% of the league.

People hate him because he’s really good, a Christian, plays golf, and doesn’t act like a hood rat.

Politics has taken over everything in this country. When your choice of team to cheer for tells someone everything they need to know about you politically, it's gone too far.
