Would you trade lonzo?

Dad doesn't want new Orleans.
I don't want a guard that is not a shooter.
He plays defense and can pass. I'd move him with hill (cannot stand him) for someone who can actually fire from deep.

Wish I could just trade his dad

Yes. If the sins really want him, get what you can for him. His dad alone, makes Lonzo not worth to keep besides his horrible shooting.

Of course I would. But it would have to be the right offer. I’m not trading him for something considerably less than his potential.

If we could find a good shooter to pair with Zion a pass first PG like Lonzo isn’t bad at all. My issue is the family baggage.

ESPN Article

"Lonzo don't care about no trade," LaVar said. "He just wants to play. So his main thing is, 'As long as my foot keeps getting better, I'll play for anybody.'"
quote:
LaVar said the pass-first Lonzo only will help Zion Williamson, who is expected to be taken first overall by New Orleans in Thursday's draft.
"Lonzo could be with Sara Lee, and she gonna be good," LaVar said. "Lonzo with anybody. Lonzo going to groom him, letting him know that when you get open, you're going to get the ball. He's going to make him so much better than what everybody's thinking. So everybody doubting him and saying, 'You know what? You don't have these post moves. You're not polished, just a good runner and athletic,' Lonzo will fine-tune him."
He may have said that before in order to posture, but his most recent quotes don't indicate that he is not willing to come.

I think this factor would actually impede deal making.
Baggage.
I guess the answer is to sit down with lavar, lonzo, lonzo agent and get a list of 5 or 6 options to explore.
Nothing public. If not now before trade deadline when one of the list contenders loses pg to injury.

The trade to execute is Ingram, pick #4, and a future pick to the Wizards for Beal and pick #9.
Lonzo is 6'7" and he can guard most small forwards.
Then try and find a smooth shooting center who can grab 8+ rebounds a game and be the Lakers biggest threat in three years.

If he says he wants to stay, he's a keeper.
WE just need to unload Hill to create enough space to get 2 shooters

I’ll leave that to the FO.
I’m just excited we castrated the Lakers. They are literally Ball-less.
Good job Griffin!

How blessed are we that Lonzo will be grooming Zion? Zion definitely needs a seasoned vet like Lonzo to mentor him. I was worried that Jrue’s humbleness and grit may run off on Zion.
Sarcasm off now. I realize this was Lavar saying all this and I don’t think Lonzo isn’t a great guy and worker. I also don’t think Lavar will be a distraction like before as it seems someone has made him dial it down a few notches. Probably finally realizing that he was hurting his son’s value and image.
I hope Lonzo stays healthy and learns to shoot if we keep him because his defense and passing would be great. But I still prefer to move him at this point even though Griffin could add pieces that could make Lonzo’s flaws less noticeable.

Pels have enough space ignoring solo

I’ll also say this about Lonzo. Let’s not act like he’s Tony Allen from 3. The league average last season was 35.5% from 3, and Lonzo was a 32.9% shooter from deep, an improvement from 30.5% the year before.
You know what’s funny about that? If he makes the EXACT same jump again this offseason, he would shoot 35.5% from 3 next season. League average.

What's the league average for attempts again?

The threes aren’t the huge issue. It’s the free throws

Of course I would keep him. He will be a good player. New coach and new city could do great things for him. Also heard his dad has shifted lots of focus to the younger son recently.

Ball has shot 119 free throws in 99 games
Shaq once attempted 972 FTs in a 74 game season
Balls poor FT shooting is a non factor. In fact, the real issue is his inability to actually get to the line
