Sonic tips

As a peacelover with smooth, scar free knuckles, I rarely go to Sonic.
The carhop assumed a tip, which I gave.
Are tips at Sonic the norm? Not mad. Just wondering if this is the Sonic S.O.P.
Didnt stay long. Head was on a swivel in case of random knucklechecks.
If I didnt tip her, would she have hit me, or is knucklechecking reserved for baw customers only?

I don't think I have ever spent more than $20 at one time at Sonic. I usually give $1 for an order of $10 or less, and $2 for $10-20.

I tip $1, but I don’t think they’re supposed to receive tips. Once, when I paid with my card and didn’t have a dollar on me, I asked the server why I couldn’t just add the tip to my card payment. She told me if tips were reported, her hourly wage would be reduced.

I don't tip the person at mcdonald's for walking my order 5 feet to the counter, why would I tip the person at Sonic for walking 10?

I was just curious. Not familiar with the Sonic way of doing things.
