In honor of D-Day would be my guess. I may check out a 3pm showing tomorrow since I never saw it in theaters.

What does it mean to be "on biggie?"

pretty sure this is a troll but I am willing to be entertained...what is the spin you have to support this claim?

Just going through most of what is covered in each SPR thread by all the technical people on the board (and I am one of them).

So...

quote:

Upham was a soldier, and one of Miller's men during World War Two, serving as the tritagonist of the film Saving Private Ryan.

tritagonist:
quote:

the person who is third in importance, after the protagonist and deuteragonist, in an ancient Greek drama.

protagonist:
quote:

the leading character or one of the major characters in a drama, movie, novel, or other fictional text. an advocate or champion of a particular cause or idea.

antagonist
quote:

a person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something; an adversary.

tritagonist vs antagonist
quote:

As nouns the difference between tritagonist and antagonist. is that tritagonist is in greek drama, the actor who played the third role (after the protagonist and deuteragonist) while antagonist is an opponent or enemy.

so you are going to go with the idea that his refusal to kill was him winning a battle with his morality at all costs and not giving in to the temptation to kill another human being despite being provoked by having a fellow member of your unit stabbed through the chest in a moment where you could have intervened and saved his life at a cost

cause I always thought he was intending to kill based on the idea that he loads a round in the chamber as he is walking up the stairs until the moment he realized he was a coward and that his identity of morality was more of a cover to hide the fact that he was a worthless POS

And the fact the film even goes here...

The theory kind of falls apart when he shoots a surrendering prisoner at point blank range ten minutes later.

My boy is 13 and part of me really wants him to see this in the theater. It had a huge impact on me. What is y’alls opinion on taking him? Old enough for this?

It's intense as all hell but a 13 year old should be able to handle it.

I originally thought this was the Terminator thread so my first answer was along the lines of "The violence in those movies are no big deal". Whoops! Glad I caught it and was able to revise my answer.

I watched it when I was 5 or 6 for the first time . But hell by that time my dad let me watch braveheart and gladiator and I turned out ok. I actually loved those movies and were some of my favorites for a long time

I saw it on its original run. Had an older gentleman sitting next to me with his wife. They appeared to be of appropriate age for him to have served. He was balling his eyes out. It hit me pretty deep.
