Good point. On the ROW, contractor vehicles might only get 30 miles on them a day, but they never get turned off.

It's not. I wouldn't hesitate to buy any well maintained Toyota truck with high miles if there wasn't something known wrong with it that I didn't want to deal with.

I would have no problem buying trucks with 150k miles at the right price and condition. High mileage does not automatically mean high maintenance costs. But it does always mean someone else took on the vast majority of the depreciation.

I was was given a nice 2013 FX2 Ford F150 with 180K true highway miles (employee commuted between from Baker to Lafayette for 4 years) Its up to 205K and runs great. Of course, my company pays the gas, insurance and all maintenance so I think its great deal.

It all depends on the truck and the driver.

Yes although as long as Tacoma didn’t have rust, age shouldn’t be as big of an issue.

For the Gen 2 Tacoma’s (05-14), take $1k off of its initial purchase price per 10k miles it has on it to find the reasonable purchase price

I would have to give you my Tacoma. Its got 308,000.

Anybody have any experience here buying a used truck with high mileage? I have heard with Toyotas it isn't much of a concern. I am looking at the Tacoma and Nissan Frontier on autotrader. I have seen some with 8,000 to 100,000 miles on them.

Between those two, the one with 8,000 miles is a no brainer.

The best value is if you can find one just past 100k that has had all the 100k work done to it.

For me, it’d be all about the price.. if i could find a used Land Cruiser, 2000-2006 year model, with over 150k miles, i d consider it if the price were under $20k.. same with some Lexuses (Lexusi?).. so i guess logically, i’d look at Tacomas and other Toyota products similarly, in re to the ratio of miles to price.

Anyone buying a used Tacoma with less than 20K miles may as well go ahead and buy a new one.

I once thought that if it had more than 100k you stayed away. Now you can look at the car/truck overall and tell how well it was taken care of and judge how long it may last. Toyota's are of course famous for lasting several hundred thousand miles, still not sold on domestics yet.

I have a 13 year old GMC with 170000 on the clock.... I'd wake up tmrw and trust it enough to drive to Alaska. 100,000 ain't much on a vehicle these days.

Not to derail the thread, but that is my dream road trip.. from TX/LA to Fairbanks, AK, thru Canada via the Alaska Highway.

i have the vehicle, a Jeep with under 60k mi., my dog to travel with (would be more fun than the wife).. just need to find the time.

I'd have no problems with ....

A Tundra with 100k miles.
A Ford with 80k miles
A Dodge Ram with no more that 75k mile
Wouldn't sniff a Chevy with more than 150 miles
