Is your wife of Caribbean descent? The new research indicates almost all true celiacs have that in common.

If you have it, it is an autoimmune disease and it is real. You can't consume gluten without destroying your small intestine. To diagnose it you typically get a blood test followed by an endoscopy.

I agree that there are many "gluten free" people out there who don't have it.

Although I think some people can be truly gluten intolerant (just not most) the best thing about gluten intolerance is that it increased food choices for those with Celiacs.

I've asked people that didn't say they have celiacs just a gluten allergy about what happened. They say they just felt better. Ok, so you cut out a bunch of shite food you were eating from the frozen food section and all that canes.

No wonder you feel better.

I have a rare condition myself and I have never met anyone who has celiac disease in my life.

But, I did meet a lady at a clinic who claims her grandson was diagnosed and going gluten free helped him tremendously.

It is the roundup.

I am unfortunately Celiac; when I was diagnosed I went and got a second opinion, then a third. All of the tests positive. I can say for a fact that if you do it for attention you are a freaking idiot! You can't eat like a "normal" person, and if you buy the specialty foods it costs a small fortune, gluten free beer sucks (generally speaking), work and social functions with meals? forget it! And half the time I don"t know if I have a stomach bug or something is going on with the Celiac. What makes it worse is that the people that eat gluten free because it's trendy, make life more difficult for the people that HAVE to. I wouldn't wish this shite on anyone...

My wife, not at all fat, but her favorite things were beer and pizza. Yeah, she was pretty devastated. She'd only eat pizza a couple times a month but loved it.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune genetic disease.

It is an autoimmune disease, but my GI doc told me that there is evidence linking antibiotics at early ages as a contributor to Celiac Disease. I'll be interested to see if that ends up holding water.

LINK to one of the studies.

Celiac disease is a thing. And a rather nasty thing that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

"Gluten intolerance" isn't.

Very few people actually have celiac’s.

People are just dumb and want attention

Glad this thread turned into something other than the shitshow it started out as. My child was recently diagnosed with celiac disease. We haven't gone out to eat since the diagnosis, but I am definitely not looking forward to the attention when we do. We met with a dietician the other day and she was going through all of the precautions we need to take when/if we go out to eat. Talk to the manager. Request they change gloves, request they prepare my son's meals on a separate workspace, use different utensils to prepare his meals. Sounds fricking fantastic. I can't wait for everyone to see how special we are!

On the positive side, the trendiness of the gluten free movement has made it pretty easy to find just about all his favorite foods in a GF version.

It’s the corporations man! They’ve paid off the government to position our food and make profit off of it man! That’s why we need to outlaw corporations and only allow government to control it man!

They dont.

Its an Autoimmune Disease is also now Trendy to say you have it.

If HALF of the people who say they cant eat Gluten really had Celiac dz, the GI docs office would have a line outside of it 24/7

There's an app that points out all the restaurants that cater to celiacs. I'll ask my wife what it's called if you can't find it, I'd imagine just type in celiacs in app search and there's probably not too many other apps with that description If you live in a big city there are quite a few options for ya'll. Many of your more authentic mexican places are good also. Some of them we've found use little flour in their cooking or have plenty of gluten free options. Language barrier can be an issue though but I can speak spanish pretty well.

When I say little flour obviously your child can have 0. But some of the authentic places don't use much flour in their kitchen period is what I mean.
