There is a HUGE correlation between religious observation and reported levels of happiness

This was the topic of the God Brain book.

How if you believed in God and were religious it affected your brain to such a degree that you tended to be far more happy than non-religious without even realizing why.

A quiet euphoria vs. a loud disenchantment, resentment and anger toward anything and all things from the left.

Ok. Good for you.

Why the need to shite on other people and what makes THEM happy?

Don’t even try with him.

He just keeps posting in circles to get a rise out of people.

You can’t actually have any form of a discussion with him.

I don't think it has to be that binary.

In aggregate, religious wives have reported to be "happier". That doesn't mean the others are sad, angry, etc.

Perhaps my wife is VERY happy and your wife is even happier. Both are VERY HAPPY at a minimum.

Sure you can, but you're only going to get what you put in. If you give no effort, don't expect any more from me.

Ephesians 5:22-33 New International Version (NIV)
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[a] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[b] 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Happy???
Yes.

quote:

Their lives sound boring as frick to me.
Yes, to you. Those women are happy so why should it matter if their lives are boring to you?

quote:

Maybe weekly Sunday school and a monthly church dinner to look forward to with the occasional romantic Denny's date night sprinkled in here and there.
You're quite ignorant, aren't you?

quote:

I guess having a tool husband who is out of her hair for a cumulative 5 - 6 months out of the year for whatever "season" it happens to be would a bonus maybe.
Why do you assume the husband's are "tools"? Wouldn't having "tools" for husbands make them less happy overall? And if they were "tools", wouldn't that lead to the conclusion that the faith of the women were a significant contributing factor to their happiness in spite of the circumstances they find themselves?

quote:

Perhaps happy or happiest is all relative.
Uh yeah, it is, at least in some sense. People experience things differently and have different reactions to their circumstances. The Bible teaches people to put their trust in God, not themselves or other people. Doing so will lead to greater happiness as God doesn't "let us down" like we sinners do to each other all the time.

For Christians, a Christ-centered relationship should result in general happiness as both people in the relationship are working together towards the same goal, which is hopefully God's glory.

quote:

My wife and I haven't attended church in decades. We love our son and our extended family and we're going on 20 years of a happy swinging lifestyle together.
Good for you. It sounds like you and your wife share a similar worldview which allows you both to tackle life's problems in the same way.

A lot of people don't marry someone who shares the same worldview as themselves, which leads to major conflicts that ultimately are too difficult to bear and which lead to a split.

quote:

We get up and go to work and pay our bills just like every one else and then we have fun together every weekend.
Again, good for you. That sounds like the typical adult human experience.

quote:

Religious conservatives wouldn't know fun if it bit them in the arse
Why do you assume everything you consider "fun" is fun for everyone else in the world. And why are you so judgmental about what others consider fun? Why do you care and what standard do you adhere to in order to judge anyone or anything as right or wrong, better or worse?

Atheism is fundamentally nihilistic. People with no purpose, no meaning, and no hope tend to fall into despair.

Because life is despair, for the most part. Religion is like a bandaid in that regard.

It all ends one day. Nobody's going to meet a higher maker. Nobody is getting to see their loved ones in an afterlife. It just ends. I think.

Lest we forget what Jesus told his disciples and in turn the world.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you : not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Translation....There’s nothing in this world that will truly satisfy your heart’s desire for inner peace and joy. The burning desire of worldly possessions are temporary substitutions for a heart seeking peace and joy.
