I can't wait to be a Safety Manager in the civilian world. Looking for that perfect landing spot with relatively few morons tasked with wielding powered equipment.

This is like getting mad at the accountant for watching company expenses.

These people were the runt in the neighborhood and feel the need to project power. They're insufferable.

All you have is a Safety Manager doing this? Consider yourself lucky.

Most facilities of a 200+ employees have employee participation teams where they get some training and do so many observations per month. You may have an accountant wandering around with a pen and pad or Karen from IT telling you how to ascend your scaffolding.

Y’all must have shitty jobs if the safety manager irritates you. Put your gaddamn PPE back on and get the cords out of the water...

It's a tough job in my opinion.

I wouldn't want it.
They have to understand lots. Yet, are responsible for the behavior of others.

Some idiot can neglect PPE or procedure and get hurt.
And it'll be safety guy who takes fall.
No thanks.

Honestly having a role that makes my coworkers avoid me at all costs sounds like a dream.

Our safety manager ain’t nothing but a suck arse. Think he’s all high and mighty just because he went to college to get some schooling. Welcome to the real world, and stay out of my way.

I went to a facility where the safety guy locked all of the med kits. His justification was that he wanted to know everything that required getting inside that white box. Problem was that we'd only see him maybe once a day. Wasn't even there to let us lock out every day. He'd just sit in the control room eating and watching TV like the fat fricker he was.

If you see someone bleeding out, you'd have to find someone with a radio, get him to answer, and wait for him to waddle over to wherever you were to unlock the kit. Made me want to start bringing my own kit to sites

If by book you mean OSHA....then yeah. Safety exists because people like you would die doing stupid shite.

But stupid people is pretty much why I have a job and safety keeps you alive....so thanks.

Ironically, one of the biggest complaints you hear from chemical plant baws is that the company they work for doesn’t care about employee safety.
