Justice Sotomayor is an embarrassment to the Court

Yesterday in arguments over the Citizenship question, Solicitor Francisco correctly raises that point that if the Supreme Court were to declare that the citizenship question is improper based on the challenger’s argument that it may cause census eligible-takers to avoid the census, it would be setting a precedent that any group can simply boycott a question to get it thrown out of the census.
J. Sotomayor angrily accused Francisco of “accusing Hispanics of conspiring to boycott the census.”
This is incredibly shallow-minded and an embarrassing testament to Sotomayor’s legal mind. It’s nothing more than a strawman used to attack Francisco on ethnic lies when his comment never can close to suggesting this.

Sad that a SC justice would play identity politics at that level. Sounds exactly like one of those blue haired nutcases we see on the news everyday.

He should have shut her up in his response. Accused her of mischaracterizing his statement and pandering based on race and said that should be beneath a SC justice.

Kagan and Breyer are frequently wrong, but consistent with far left judges of the past, in temperament, conduct, etc.
For different reasons, RBG and Sotomayor should rightfully be seen as partisan hacks with no real place on the nation's highest Court.
Hasn't been a Republican appointee to the court like that in a long, long time.

Exactly my point. She has lots of boxes checked; therefore she doesn't need to meet any other qualifications, like experience, intelligence, ... .

She is generally considered one of the least qualified and the least intelligent Justice to ever sit on the Supreme Court by legal scholars with balls enough to make the statement. She's an embarrassment and a joke in the legal community as you probably know better than anyone.
I actually have grown to respect Kagan even though I disagree with her a lot. Sotamayor is a joke.

I read the transcripts from every argument, and she is the first one out of the gate to ask "questions" (which is really just her telling the advocate what she thinks about the case, and if you disagree with what she thinks, she shouts over you for 10 minutes), and she constantly interrupts the advocates and other justices.
In the census case yesterday, she was interrupting Francisco so obnoxiously that the Chief stepped in and told her to stop (politely, as always).
She is pretty awful.

The "wise latina" is an abomination. She can live to be 100 as far as I'm concerned, but I hope her days on the Court are numbered.

Anyone used to watch “How I met your mother” and remember the scene where Marshall is decrying his lack of impact on environmental legislation as a lawyer and him stating in order to make a real difference he needs to be a judge?

No, but there has to better legal minds that checked the diversity boxes.
I have no issues with Kagen, I disagree with most of her positions but she at least articulates them in a professional fashion and can develop a supporting argument.

Both she and Kagan are left wing females. I've heard them both speak a lot. Kagan is MUCH more intelligent than Sotomayor. My cleaning lady is more intelligent than Sotomayor.
