any person or group that has the ability to bring a MLB team to NO has spent less time considering the opportunity than it took to get to this point in this thread...

Nope, not enough people and money. Milwaukee is the only metro area smaller than 2M people with an MLB franchise, and they are roughly 20% bigger than NOLA.
I do think that a minor league team could thrive in New Orleans with a better located ballpark.

I gotcha. Corpus Christi handles their minor league experience about as good as I’ve seen. Plenty of great ballparks in the state: CC, Frisco, Round Rock, SugarLand, and it looks like Amarillo is top notch.
New Orleans’ stadium doesn’t compete with any of those.

The Skeeters games weve been to have been real fun for our kids. They normally do some cool promos every weekend it seems like. Really relaxed and cheap enough to go to on a regular basis.
Corpus probably has the nicest ballpark out of any minor league team I've been to. Hell it's better than a couple MLB stadiums

Astros numbers have gone up in Louisiana because of the Rangers sucking, and Bregman pulling in LSU fans. Astros have been doing a Louisiana Day every year recently and it’s working. They are cutting back into the market.

Both have more than half minorities.
60% black new Orleans.
2/3rds Latino San Antonio
Seems like poverty among blacks takes n.o.
out of the high ticket zone.

LSU has a huge following in New Orleans, but the Saints are the main attraction in the city...and have been since '67

Not sure why you say that. In the 90s we’d travel down from north La to watch the Saints and dome was packed and insane back then.

Problem is there is just better locations without a team currently. I do think the SE needs more teams, and start playing regionally. Charlotte or Nashville would be more inclined to get one before NOLA. Birmingham has better minor league support than NOLA.

It works both ways though.
I dont know how the facilities are for the players in New Orleans, but that had to be a major reason Houston left to go across the country to Fresno.
Just look at the Rangers last year. When they were needing a new AAA affiliate, they could have went right down the road to San Antonio, but they looked at the facilities and said no, and went with the new park in Nashville that had a state of the art weight room, batting cages, etc..
New Orleans wouldnt have been stuck with Miami if they did any sorts of upgrades.

Before the new stadium, that wasnt the case. Now they have one of the best minor league stadiums that Ive ever been to. Its in a up and coming neighborhood, and a big attraction for me at least is that Good People Brewing is literally across the street.
It was the same with Nashville and Charlotte. Both had shitty parks in bad areas, and now they have gorgeous new parks downtown and are flourishing.
