Update on DFS. HB 357 to governor 5/31
Posted on 4/19/19 at 10:34 pm
Posted on 4/19/19 at 10:34 pm
6/1/2020 New Special Session starts and Item 17 is taxing dfs.
5/31/2020 HB 357 passes to regulate dfs and will move to governor.
6/3 HB459 passes Senate
5/31 HB600 to Senate Finance
5/30 Update - Final Passage Vote coming. Almost done!
5/20 Update - Vote Failed
“Read third time by title, amended, roll called on final passage, yeas 64, nays 27. The bill, not having received two-thirds vote of the elected members, failed to pass. Motion to reconsider pending.”
3 bills were put in motion last week. Now we wait to see if any are passed.
One knucklehead is still trying to get rid of it. Saying geofencing won’t work and he wants a 30% net revenue tax. The bills in motion have 8-10% net revenue tax and 5-10k annual licensing fee. Somewhere I read the knucklehead wants 100k licensing.

Back arse state.
At some point it will get settled and the switch turned on.
These POS politicians are a joke.
Was in Bay St. Louis yesterday. Entered some daily golf for today. One was was a $1 contest the other $7.77
Hoping my family can weather the storm if I lose the $8.77!!
Glad LA polciticans are here to protect me from myself.

The vote yesterday was for sports betting.

The senate is who stopped sports betting last time around.

I hate this dumbass state and the people that run it at times. The fact that this is a thing, is stupid. The fact that each parish got to vote yes or no also is stupid.

Sports betting bill will hit the House. Expected to pass then be voted on. Will allow casinos and horse tracks and online sites to legally allow betting on sports starting January.

What’s the status on the dfs bill, or is that the same as the sports betting bill? I thought we were good to go in the parishes that voted for it, and all they had to do was figuring how to tax it.

They introduced multiple bills with tax percentages and yearly fees to sites. All the bills say education gets the profits. They are voting on which bill will be law. It’s looking like 8-12% tax and 5k yearly. But some are trying to get 25% and 100k yearly. How it’s going we are looking like August before anything happens.

Some of the stuff I've read on the bills look like they
1. don't want the fantasy to be available online or mobile
2. Has to be performed in a place you have to be over 21 to enter
Good grief if this is true, what are they even doing

Draft Kings is running ads on Twitter right now talking about "the physical locations only" nonsense. Asking us to email our congressmen

Why are the lawmakers in this state so damn stupid and backwards? Wish we could flush all of them down the toilet and start over. They want to buck everything each and every thing other states are doing to success. No wonder we are last in everything except car insurance rates.

It’s not too late to leave Louisiana for greener pastures, mate.

Not to be a jackass, but the reality is Louisiana is going to be one of the last states to legalize DFS (and marijuana, for that matter, but that's a subject for another board). Assuming history is any indication.

Lmao. That’s what the vote for. Only those in the parishes that voted yes can play. This isn’t new. That’s geofencing.

i would've said the same thing about Alabama but the bill passed the other day for medical marijuana.
i honestly thought i'd never see that.
