Only those in the parishes that voted yes can play. This isn’t new. That’s geofencing.

Unlees I misunderstood what was told to me, the arguement I heard was that the geofencing wouldnt work so the politicians wanted to restrict the usage to certain facilities.

No, there are lawmakers who want DFS to only be available in gambling buildings.

What a fricking joke, and I’m sure being pushed for by the casino/racetrack lobbyists. What a hugeantic pain in the arse that would be. The despicable politicians are robbing the citizens blind and we just take it.

Hardly anyone would play. It wouldn’t even be worth it.

I think you’re underestimating the gamblers... if they make it easily accessible, people will play

The floor will debate the bill - House Bill 495
On Monday May 20th. This bill is the tax rate and yearly site fees and where the money will go.

Have you read the bill? Are there restrictions in it about only having access to DFS games inside licensed casinos?

Once again, our corrupt politicians are hard at work. The video poker industry got 7 house members in the committee establishing the fantasy sports regulations to require any participant to be inside a brick and mortar business that allows gambling or video poker.Amendment 15 to House Bill 459 passed the committee and is being brought to the full house for a vote on Tuesday. This is truly pathetic and would not allow anybody to play daily fantasy on their phone unless inside an establishment that has video poker.

We can thank Denise Marcelle for introducing the amenemt on behalf of lobbyist Alton Ashy as well as the following house members:
Tony Bacala
Raymond Crews
Randal Gaines
Joe Marino
Stuart Moss
Nick Muscarello

My gawd that’s awful and they will lose a ton of revenue depending on where you can play. Gas stations with video poker? How will they geofence that?

Here's the actual language...

quote:

AMENDMENT NO. 15 On page 6, between lines 2 and 3, insert the following: "(12) Provide that fantasy sports contests are required to be conducted in a venue where the fantasy sports contest player must be at least twenty-one years of age."

I have no idea how they are going to physically enforce this. I wonder if draft kings or the other DFS companies have the ability to geofence that accurately. Plus, it doesn't state that a venue has to be a gambling establishment, just that the people in the venue must be 21 years or older. I don't understand why they can't just let the DFS companies enforce the 21 years or older part. This is so ridiculous.
