A group of grossly intoxicated 19 year olds blasts up a tidal creek at 2AM. What could go wrong?

For days the people on the boat said they ‘didn’t remember’ who was driving the boat when it crashed. The girl’s body was found 5 days later.

Odds this kid serves any time?

quote:

Paul Murdaugh, 20, was indicted Thursday by a Beaufort County grand jury on one count of boating under the influence causing death and two counts of boating under the influence causing great bodily injury, according to Robert Kittle, a spokesman for South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson’s Office.

All three are felony counts.

Beach was one of six people — all under the age of 21 — who were ejected from the 17-foot boat when it struck a bridge piling at “a high rate of speed” in Archer’s Creek around 2:20 a.m. Feb. 24, according to first-responders speaking to dispatchers in 911 audio.

Paul Murdaugh is the son of Alexander Murdaugh, a prominent Hampton County attorney.

Alexander Murdaugh’s father, grandfather, and great-great grandfather each served as the solicitor for the 14th Judicial Circuit, which includes Allendale, Hampton, Jasper, Beaufort and Colleton counties.

They must not have that much money. If they were 9 figure millionaires , I’d go after them civilly .

This is where white privilege will come in handy for the defense.
Most he'll get in 6 months community service.
Record expunged when he turns 21.

The Murdaughs are the M in PMPED a large SC low country PI firm. Alex is the odd ginger in the family. The family keeps up work in the solicitor's office for the political clout. PMPED is a very solid firm and is one of the shops attorneys will associate with on FELA and Admiralty cases in SC.

Years ago I would say the kid would walk, today nepotistic non or weak prosecution is more and more rare.

On one hand, yes he did cause the death of somebody. On the other... I'm nowhere near as sympathetic when a super drunk person gets themselves killed by letting another super drunk person drive a vehicle.

It's a horrible horrible thing that happened no doubt but I just don't like how when this kind of thing happens the drunk driver is the only one who catches any blame when they ALL were drunk as shite and did nothing to stop the situation.

I wonder if they were all really that fricked up or a group of preppy white teenagers really didn’t roll over on each other for a few days
