Propane BBQ Pit Recommendations
Posted on 4/16/19 at 11:50 am

We have other people invited to an Easter dinner at our house. We rarely have large family gatherings since our children have all moved elsewhere and we do not have a large grill. My beloved wife (no pics since she is 64 years old) told me that I need a larger propane bbq pit and that she would pay for it (yes, we have joint checking and individual checking accounts).
I need quick recommendations on a medium size propane grill to purchase one by this weekend.
Thanks, guys and gals for any recommendations.

First off you need to figure out if you are wanting a pit or a grill.

This was my most recent purchase from Lowe's and I really love it. Have been using it for close to a year. The "infrared" is really just a grate on the bottom that prevents all flair ups. Its the most evenly cooking pit I have ever had.

Do you want it to last?
I'd get a camp chef flat top grill and a weber smokey mountain.

Just got this one from Academy this weekend. Did a trial run on Sunday and it works great. The searing "performance" burner on the end works well. They also make a 4-burner version.

Weber best gas grill for the money. I have had mine for 15 plus years. Stay with cast iron. I find the heavy, thicker lid, holds in heat better than the stainless models. Nothing fancy. Comparable model is Genesis 330 they sell for $799 at most places.

You're short $100; $899.00 but it comes with a side burner which I highly recommend anyway (think cooking after a hurricane)

Don't you mean porcelain instead of cast iron?

I'm with ya and looking for my next one and the 330 appears to be the ticket

They make one without the side burner that’s $799 at local hardware store.I wouldn’t use it since I have gas cook top at home.
Always thought it was cast. Either way I think the heavier lid is the way to go.
It might be closer to being 20 but not sure. I do know it was $499 back then. My wife thought I was insane. A decade and a half or more later I can still get parts for it, but have only replaced burners to stainless, flavorizers which rust out every 4-5 years, and igniter. Thing never goes in garage unless there is a hurricane. Can heat to 600 to cook a steak or turn on only front burner on low and slow cook ribs for 5 hours. It’s an incredible product.

Ive had a Weber 330 for 8 years now and it is still ticking. Only thing I've had to do was replace the igniter just recently.

With tax I think I paid $530ish for mine and yeah I looked a few weeks ago at the new ones and almost shite but they're worth it.
Mine in on the back patio under cover (a Mizzou cover) at all times.

Weber spirit 310 from home depot for $500 I think. I've been having it for 5 years. Never had to fix a thing. I pressure wash it inside and out every year. I bought it because of the skillet insert. Grilled onions, fajitas, fried egg on the burger it's great

I have the two burner Weber Spirit and its a champ. If I needed more room I would just get a bigger Spirit.

Based on recs from this site, I bought the Weber Genesis II S-310 last fall (~$400). It has been great to cook on!

Sorry for the downvote..... charcoal or nothing.

Used to be the same way until we started grilling for supper a few nights per week. Convenience outweighed my love for charcoal at that point.

Weber, spirit or genesis.

I really like my Weber Genesis with the side burner.

I did a lot of review reading last year around this time for a grill. Settled on a Weber Spirit. It has been absolutely great. I am only cooking for 2, and one day will upgrade to a better Weber, but for now this one gets the job done.
I use it minimum 3 times a week. Cooks even, gets hot, and doesn't flare up. I would highly recommend. As others have said, it should last a long time.
