Spend a little more and buy once and buy a Stihl.

The best trimmer line I have used is Rotary 10068 Vortex 0.95 x 230' Trimmer Line
LINK
This stuff outlasts any line I have used. I do a lot of edging and whacking weeds.

10 years ago Home Depot sold the SRM-230. Mine is still going strong after the years of hard use. You may have to go to a lawn dealer, but I'd highly recommend the 230(or bigger) if you can find one. Being able to trim using half throttle instead of wide arse open certainly helps the longevity.

I too am very pleased with the Echo PAS.
Same here... I have the stick edger attachment for it as well. It always cranks right up. I liked it so much, I just picked up a Echo blower as well.

You can run all the E10 you want, providing you are using a good 2-stroke mix oil that has the right fuel conditioners and stabilizers and you are putting it in equipment you use regularly. Echo Red Armor, Stihl HP Ultra are two of the best that are easily avaliable. Just don't mix up more than you can use in a season and drain it out before storage. I keep a can of pre-mix stuff for my chainsaws, since they only see occasional use, and to flush out my trimmers at the end of the season before they get put up for storage. My blower gets used year round so it will get the stuff I mix until it runs out then gets pre-mix until Spring. Same thing for my mower, yard vac, and chipper/shredder; they all get 93 octane Shell from a 5-gal Eagle can that's been treated with Sta-bil 360/Marine. It's always safer to use a quality non-ethanol but its getting harder to find and I'd rather run 93 octane E10 from Shell or Chevron than 87 oct non-ethanol from the shitbox corner store.

Echo or stihl and use Trufuel

Echo is the smoothest weed eater that I’ve ran. No vibrations from them even after a few years of heavy use.

I have had my redmax for 13 years and still runs like a top, I actually dropped it in the river one time. When I retrieved it out the water I dried it out and it cranked right back up. Never had a problem with it. I also have a redmax backpack blower. Good stuff!

I really like my Dewalt cordless 20v weed wacker. I’ve taken it into ditches and it held its own. Only problem is the battery only last 20-30 minutes of constant use.

my standard answer is to find a repair facility near you, find out what they sell and service, and buy that brand. the big box junk is disposable and you cant get parts.
for the amount you'll use it, buy the $20 gallon truefuel (?) synthetic premix. you'll get easy start and long life

I can recommend the Husqvarna brand.
I have a 223L that I purchased approx. 5 years ago. No issues to date.
Plenty of power and easy start and fast warm up.
Use with Titanium Force line. This stuff lasts for ever.
Seems the 223L is discontinued...
Take a look at the newer Husqvarna models.

Take care of it and never put 10% ethanol gas in it.
This, 10,000 times. You can find non ethanol gas at Raceway Convenience Stores if they are in your area. Should have no carburetor problems using non ethanol fuel.

You absolutely can and will have carburetor problems if you are lazy and leave the fuel in it. You'll have varnish and brittle seals instead of varnish, brittle seals, and corrosion but you'll have a dead carb all the same. Small engines made in the last decade or so are all setup to handle E10, the seals and small parts exposed to fuel won't have any issues. Fuel tanks on small engines all have gas caps that have vent holes and let air into the tank as the fuel is used, that vent hole is what lets air (and the humidity) into the tank that will oxidize gasoline left in it (that's why E10 and non-ethanol fuel both turn bright piss yellow when stored too long) and let out the good, high volatility distillates that help fuel burn clean. shite plastic fuel cans with "safety" valves are more of a problem than E10 since they tend to vent more and let the fuel go stale faster.

Stihl or echo. A little more expensive in the beginning but way cheaper in the long run. When I first bought my house, I went cheap ($175 on a Husqvarna). Changed out atleast 1 part per year before finally getting rid of it. And I take care of my stuff!!

I bought the Echo SRM-225 from Home Depot this morning ($199.95). Thanks for the suggestions & input.

If you are on a normal city lot go buy a DeWalt 20v and thank me later.
If you are doing more than that Stihl.

Yup. This is what i have.
I concur. Can't go wrong with SRM 225. I think they are ~$199. Will last you FOREVER if you only run ethanol-free gas thru it. Speed-feed FTW.
