He would be a relatively distant 5th in the standings without Ferrari constantly fricking over leclerc in favor of him in the beginning of the season, right?

They had no reason not to make the 4x champ their lead man going in. He knows the Mercedes are faster and he can't beat them enough to make it interesting, so he's just phoning it in. LeClerc has emerged during the season. He'll likely be #1 now.

80 wins for Lewis and suddenly that record of 91 doesn't look so far out of reach anymore.

How much he and Mercedes has dominated this season and the competition has been lacking, I say it is not completely impossible for him to win the last 11 races. At worst, he will win 8-9 of the remaining 11.

Just started watching F1 this year after watching the Netflix series. Loved Austria the battles in this race.

Have both GRO and MAG forgotten how to drive? How does Steiner still have a job?

Looking forward to watching LEC and VER go at it in future races. I wish Renault had a better car for RIC, would love to see him be able to put more pressure on VER.

Leclerc is so smooth.

Verstappen is a grunt.

Was an awesome battle between those 2.

That virtual safety car essentially ended the race for first.

I sort of feel bad for Steiner. He must feel like a babysitter instead of a team principal these days.

Fairly entertaining race, although it was unfortunate we didn't get to see LeClerc and Max battle for 3rd until the end. Vettel seems completely checked out mentally.

That’s fine. But like I said earlier in the season, Mercedes wasn’t sacrificing bottas for Hamilton at the beginning of the year. They may still not be given the start of today’s race.

Time to get rid of vettel and bring verstappen on board. Would be an epic rivalry between Max & leclerc.

A few articles I read had Ricardo as the favorite to replace Vettel if he decided to retire, or Ferrari dumps him, at the end of the season.

My strategy of throwing a couple hundred bucks on Hamilton every race has proven to be the easiest way to make money known to man

I vote that every race has a safety car! It threw this race into chaos in the best ways.

They know they can’t beat Mercedes straight up on the same strategy so they try something different and cross their fingers that the stars will align to work out

They need to understand that they are racing Red Bull, not Mercedes.

Except that it essentially gave the race to Mercedes.

Isn't that the way NASCAR is destroying their races?

I'm good staying away from that.

Unless there is an option for Max to leave RBR like has been rumored.

The Vettel back to RBR rumors this week are nice. Would love to see him back there.

Maybe a VET/VER switcheroo.

Red Bull would be crazy to let that happen. I would think Vettel only returns if they actually pull the plug on Gasly.
