The problem though is he's not going to discuss anything with LSU officials, assuming the lawyer advice info is accurate. How can they reinstate someone without even discussing his suspension and actions that led to it.

If he is guilty, then he should be fired with cause. The problem with the way LSU is handling this is that they are acting as if he is guilty, when in fact he has not been accused of anything by the FBI or the NCAA. There are no allegations yet. This can only end badly for LSU. There is no upside to their knee jerk reaction of suspending Wade and Smart.

Wade will never coach another game for LSU.
Smart will never play another game for LSU.

Nothing is going to change between now and the end of the season so why would anyone expect them to be back?

I don’t see how he can be reinstated until that meeting happens. Wades lawyer told him he can’t go to that meeting. That’s either because of the pending trial next month or to protect his contract. Either way, I don’t see how he comes back in less than 1 month.

They can mutually agree to avoid certain topics and agree to a more thorough discussion at a later date.

Thars how they could walk it back, even though it wouldn't really change the situation. Not sure if either party is interested in kicking the can down the road. We'll see.

I don't think Wade necessarily thought he'd get suspended.

There is no doubt he was told he would be if he didn't meet with them.

I don't think Will Wade will coach another game with Alleva as his AD.

Take that however you want...

Alleva POV: I can not lift this suspension until Wade comes forward and satisfies the conditions that led to the initial suspension. Especially not while there is such a black cloud over the program

possible Board of Directors (or whoever is over Alleva) POV: our AD just suspended our basketball coach on the eve of the final game, in a season where we will take the court already SEC champs, and playing for the right to be sole champions. He did this due to pure speculation and media pressure, with no active NCAA investigations or charges filed as of yet. He has publically humiliated the University in the worst possible manner, and has done irreparable harm to the prestige and reputation of LSU athletics.

I’d say he’s gone. Anyone at LSU with any power at all is, at the very least, a huge pussy. No spine whatsoever.

Sadly, I think he's gone for good.

I couldnt see Wade staying. That weak dick Alleva will come up with some excuse to fire him for cause.

Honestly, this could be a blessing for Wade....gets away from an Athletic Dept that doesn't have his back, and threw him under the bus.

But we're screwed if you believe a coach with any kind of pedigree will come here and work for Alleva. Too much of a bad past going off half cocked.

The only solution is to fire Alleva and bring someone who will clean out the driftwood in the AD.

Earlier information from BOS said he was suspended for refusing to meet with Alleve and King to discuss the situation. I don’t see how he can be reinstated until that meeting happens.

Either that information was wrong or the situation has changed.

Best case spin is that they are so incompetent they suspended wade without even thinking thevsituation entirely through, and totally forgot about the involved player until later. Otherwise why not release the info at once.

Why stretch out the negative headlines for their school over multiple days?

It’s not even a question of guilt vs innocence. There is no redeeming argument for how they have handled this situation.

Hold everything, Tiger Fans!

Ed Ingram, the LSU offensive guard who had legal problems last fall and was suspended, has put his lawyer in contact with Will Wade. Maybe he can help lift the suspension for Will Wade.

no, but the tape is crystal clear. This isn’t just some vague hearsay. Wades on tape talking about an offer to a player and family.

That doesn’t mean anything! You HAVE to let things play out. Suspending him does nothing. We will still vacate everything. What happens if nothing else happens? So we suspended our coach because of a yahoo article? Literally what the frick.

And right now that’s all we have. Did anything change hands? What exactly was he referring to? Don’t know? Exactly. There’s currently no violation and no investigation. Just....”talking”.

Which is why LSU will do an internal investigation.

I think him and smart are done at LSU. I think LSU is putting the wheels in motion for a separation.
