after you saw it on the show?

Was it all Guy claimed?

We tried to get into The Shed on the MS Gulf Coast, but it was way too packed.

Yes. I went to the place in Norfolk, VA that supposedly invented the sugar (waffle) cone for ice cream. The food was ok and the limeade drink he raves about was good but a really small serving for a drink. I wasn’t all that impressed.

I've been to The Shed before. It's mediocre. If the owners were half as good at cooking barbecue as they are at getting publicity.....

We've been to The Shed bbq in Mississippi. Not the best bbq in the world, but it was pretty damn good. Definitely Flavatown worthy

Yeah there's a place in town called King's Chef that was on DD&D. They serve breakfast food all day (as well as regular greasy spoon grub) so some guys from work went there for lunch one day. It was great. The money item there is called The Grump. Magnificent! This is a half Grump:

Yes.

Hit the one food stand in Key West, it was really good.

Hit 90 Miles in Chicago all the time. Cuban. It's great.

Hit Irazu in Chicago once. Costa Rican. Decent, but not great.

Smoque BBQ in Chicago - really good

Hopleaf in Chicago - didn't eat

DMK Burger Bar in Chicago - Good

Chilam Balam in Chicago - Very good

Big and Little's in Chicago - Fantastic

Kuma's Korner in Chicago - Awesome burgers...they're over the top. The heavy metal gets to be a bit much by the end.

I have been to close to 10 places around the country. I usually seek out places from the show when traveling. Most have lived up to what he says.

Chitown- check out Saucy Porka when you get a chance. It is asian/hispanic fusion and it is really good. A lot of interesting dishes

Yea I've been to a few of them. The LA Pines in Slidell is ok but nothing really special. The Antique Club in Daphne, AL was a total shithole. Does not surprise me they closed. Panini Pete's in Mobile was pretty good but again nothing to rave about.

Hullabaloo diner in College Station, but didn't know he'd been there till after. Really good, but you definitely don't want to schedule anything active afterwards.

well duh, its like going to a fishing spot they show on TV, of course its going to be a cluster going there]

wait about a year after the show and then go, by then it should be back to normal crowds

PS - they are always over hyped and over rated for the show, but the food is usually pretty good, just not all it was hyped to be

Southern Kitchen and Dirty Oscars, both here in Tacoma, WA. I had already been to both before they were on the show, though.

Fish house Key Largo. We had the lunch menu and it was just OK, the dinner menu might be better.

While some places are legitimately awesome, he definitely plays the vast majority of them up. Not everything is the equivalent of some inanimate object in Flavortown.
