Dems and Progs, why does my MAGA hat and Trump shirt bother you so damn much?

Have we really reached a point in time where it is a bad thing to wear clothing showing your love for your country or support for your POTUS?
I mean, I didn't shite the bed when I had to look at Obama shirts for 8 years. I didn't really care for them because I didn't really care for his policies but I didn't throw a damn temper tantrum in the floor or stage fake beatings by black dudes wearing Obama apparel.
Can one of y'all please tell me why supporting our country and our President bothers you so damn much?

The lack of original threads on this board is mind numbing sometimes.

For one thing, it seems tome, based on the rhetoric and actions of Trumpkins and The Pumpkin himself, to represent an intolerance of differing points of view and a a denigration of those who are not part of the Trump movement or “tribe”. Or of those who are not so-called “follow “patriots” as defined by you guys. Plus I think they’re juvenile and obnoxious.

A few liberals have answered this on TV:
They see Trump as a racist. Period.
So anytime they see the red hat, they see a white hood.
That's it.

It's none of my business if you want to dress like a dork

Sounds like you’re letting the filth get in your head, wear that GEOTUS gear loud and proud!

Their handlers told them they should not like the hat.

It doesn't bother me at all. It's actually usually quite entertaining when I see someone dressed in Trump Worship Garb.

The talking heads told them to be outraged by it. That's what is behind 90% of Leftist rage.
Someone told them to be mad, so they are mad. They never question why.

Why did it bother so many Republicans during Obama's administration?

From what I've gathered, it represents pushback against an entire generations upbringing. Everyone got a trophy, everyone's a victim, etc.
a MAGA hat is translated as "frick your feelings" in their jello brains.
Trump wasn't supposed to win for this long in life. the liberal types were promised the wealthy jocks of the world would peak in high school, and at some point the so called intellectual left would carry them farther in life than the Trumps of the world.
They aren't emotionally able to handle a true competition where people get various outcomes. They were PROMISED everything.

Maybe we can help them design a hat of their own, going into 2020!
Can we fit all that on a hat?

I’m not a Dem or a Prog, but the answer is a combination of a) the left is less into sports and God than the right is, so politics serves as their sport/religion, and the red hat represents the “other team” and b) Trump is a shitty President.
That lard-arse couldn’t even get a fricking wall built for two years when he had both houses; now to get it done he had to set a compromising executive checks-and-balances precedent to get it underway. This board went into meltdown mode when his predecessor overreached, but the MAGAts, ironically, are treating him as more of a sports/religious figure than as a President. The left hasn’t seen the right treat a President like this since Reagan; the difference was that Reagan was actually good at the gig.
I always thought the left was soft on principles; they’re “on the right side of history” and “morally right,” so they don’t have to “play by the rules.” Now Trump boyz cheer on their god and will say, plainly, “well it’s ok if they do it,” as if that isn’t the most little-dicked cuck NPC reason to do anything.
Besides the fact that I’ve always preferred the Republican candidate over the Democrat, I’ve genuinely enjoyed all post-election meltdowns beginning in 2004. I didn’t think that the Obama meltdowns like the eight years on this board would ever be equaled, but the Trump victory proved me wrong. Should he win again, the meltdown will be predictably intense, but I’m getting more and more curious as to how this board (the most pro-Trump environment in my life) would handle a Trump loss, especially to something not white and not male.
Either way, :csb: :tldr:

I am always happy for people to wear political gear. It tells me exactly where they stand, and a lot about them.
I personally would never wear political gear, regardless of the stripe. I did put a gary johnson yard sign up much to the chagrin of my wife.

The media and Hollywood have worked a long time to make people think conservatives were both bad and in the minority.
Long before Trump was president I wore a couple of shirts for a local organization called "Southern Conservative". I definitely got some strange looks from people. Not all were liberals getting mad, some were likely just people surprised that I would wear a political shirt like that. But I definitely felt like being conservative was starting to feel like I was in the minority, though that had a lot to do with the media and Hollywood.
