I think many are throwing around the word treason too liberally and in doing so using it incorrectly.

You cannot commit an act of treason during peacetime.
quote:

Treason. The betrayal of one's own country by waging war against it or by consciously or purposely acting to aid its enemies. ... The Treason Clause applies only to disloyal acts committed during times of war. Acts of dis-loyalty during peacetime are not considered treasonous under the Constitution.

quote:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

so I think it's more appropriate to use the term Sedition.

Here is the code for Sedition which fits perfectly:
quote:

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both. (June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 808; July 24, 1956, ch. 678, § 1, 70 Stat. 623; Pub. L. 103–322, title XXXIII, § 330016(1)(N), Sept. 13, 1994, 108 Stat. 2148.)

So, lock them up for a long, long time. But there won't be any gallows in their future.

We'll start using the word properly when they do.

We are at war. AMUF has been in place for almost 20 years.

ETA: but you are right. Sedition is the correct term.

Is espionage considered different than treason? 2 people were executed, and 2 were imprisoned here in the US for providing info about the Manhattan project to the Soviets who at the time were "an ally". I thought this was considered treason pretty much.

It was during war time, but they aided "an ally" who later became an enemy.

Why should the snowflakes get to be the only ones who get to rewrite definitions of words that no longer mean what they had meant up until the last eight or ten years?

Yeah this is equally ridiculous.

"Sedition" isn't being used properly either. I don't read every topic posted here, but I don't think anyone has been accused of trying to overthrow the Government, or to use force to oppose the authority of the Government. Discussing legal ways to remove Trump from office is not the same as attempting to overthrow the Government.

I guess some people could be accused of delaying the execution of laws of the Government, but I'm not sure how that is interpreted.

I like this one. Allows imprisonment for life.

subversion
noun
sub·?ver·?sion | \ s?b-'v?r-zh?n , -sh?n\
Definition of subversion
1 : the act of subverting : the state of being subverted
especially : a systematic attempt to overthrow or undermine a government or political system by persons working secretly from within

Punishment for "serious" subversion starts at 10 years in prison and carries the possibility of life imprisonment, whereas punishment for "serious" cases of inciting subversion range from five to 15 years in prison (and only very rarely exceed 10 years)

Technically we are at war, Congress declared it in a wishy washy way I believe during HWBush?

I think we get into sedition, conspiring, abuse of power, falsified FISa warrants, which essentially is going against the POTUS therefore the United States.

Questioning whether the 25th Amendment should be used is not treason.

It definitely should be a firing offense when it is being suggested for political reasons, since the 25th is for the transition of power when a President is incapacitated.

It also is for the President to reclaim his office when he is no longer incapacitated.

What he is doing right now is clearly sedition. He keeps bouncing from talk show to talk show saying he thinks Trump might be a Russian asset. Doesn't list a single reason why, just states he thinks he is one.

So 3 years of heavy scrutiny and they still don't have enough to make any kind of move against Trump, yet he is still a puppet.

Meanwhile Putin keeps getting more and more pissed at our actual actions.
