If everything in Baton Rouge is slow, late, and second rate, at least let's eliminate open container laws. If you're gonna be backwards, be fun.

If it took three years and 11 months from authorizing sidewalks on Gardere to starting construction, do you believe they can start widening 10 in less than five years?

FIFY. By the time they’re done with the current stage in 2027, it will already need further work and expansion.

As it stands the current plan gets I-10 to where at should have been twenty years ago.

But for real, they need to just buy those businesses and move on.

And if the business is owned by a minority then they claim racism. Environmental impact studies also includes impacts to minorities.

The businesses have fought for years to prevent this from happening.

Fight what? Do they really not want I-10 to expand so traffic can flow better? They like that gridlocked bullshite that puts everyone in a bad mood and gives Baton Rouge a bad image to people passing through? Damn it’s so stupid. BR is a major metro and is a major staple in the region’s economy. They’ve gotta quit acting like BR is some small town like St Francisville. Stuck in the fricking past

That flowing traffic does nothing for them if they lose their business. You seem to want them to sacrifice for the greater good. People generally are reluctant to do that. You may not like it, but they are acting rationally, ie in their own best interest.

What they want shouldn’t matter in this case. This is an emergency. shite is out of control and government should take matters into their own hands. Build right on top of them do something. Stop bullshitting making excuses. I swear.

The Bush to Lacombe Highway was approved over 30 years ago and it still hasn't broken ground. There is a reason that this is only "proposed" because it is a pipe dream.

There are mechanisms to do
just that, but dont be pissed at them for looking out for themselves. If somebody wanted to bulldoze your house in the name of progress you wouldnt be happy.

Unless I'm mistaken he doesn't even live in BR or La. If so he doesn't really have a say or vested interest either way.

All he does is bitch about every aspect of BR and the state. It’s his shtick.

His post above though is a new benchmark in his lunacy.

Why? Why in the world do we need to do an environmental impact study for expanding an already existing elevated road way that is elevated over DEVELOPED land?!?!?!?!?!?

What do think is going to happen when they begin construction which includes substantial structural elements and the equipment used to erect them? Also, new improvements will be up to current design standards and likely further impact the area.

The area below will be 100% affected.

They are in the thick of exactly what has kept this project from beginning for decades.

DOTD and FHWA knew all of this was going to hit and are doing what they can through the NEPA process.

Outspoken lay persons armed with Drivers lic sometimes fail to realize what goes into major transportation initiatives.
