The Methodist clergy and leadership that allow this are hellbound

Another good rule of thumb is to think about your core beliefs and the search for every verse that says something about that topic. You will end up finding that most ever denomination picks and chooses what they want to believe. All of the hard truths are watered down to appease the masses.
This is true.

One of these liberal FUMC liberal churches is in my rural county, on the fringe of Dallas, with a large, popular lake.
It would already be a dead church because its membership is growing old and younger people don't care to be judged about divorce, abortion or being queer.
So to revive it, the lake area residents (formerly of Dallas) have taken it over. The pastor is retiring and his family portrait looks like something straight out of a SJW magazine (neckbeards and a mixed-race adoption).
The congregants praise him for making it "fun."
This is why I wont step inside a church for any serious reason for a really long time other than obvious instances. This isnt a recent phenomenon either.

I fear the UMC is pretty much hellbent on taking the same disasterous path as the Episcopal Church.
I left the Episcopal church for this reason and landed in the Methodist faith, I think you are correct and will be moving along again it if it does decide in favor of homosexuality

I think the Methodist leadership has underestimated the membership of the church.
The conservative Methodist and Episcopal members need to team up and start from scratch and follow the scripture - not the SJWs.

I imagine the United Methodist Church as a body is headed towards a split into different sects of Methodism.

PCA is a pretty good option

quote:It may not be a bad thing. Obviously the UMC has not been enforcing the positions in the Book of Discipline, so let’s either start enforcing it, or split. The large Southern UMC churches who want it enforced are the ones with money and property. The leftists who want to share in the UMC benefits but not abide by the faith can gtfo. Time to stop appeasing these hostile takeover attempts for the sake of others’ feelings.
The march to the left will not be stopped.
I’ll never set foot in my UMC again...and my family has hardly missed a Sunday in almost 6 years.

That's so weak, barely worth the reply.... using the academia is a contradiction in this kind of post. Let ignorance lie.

Recall the words of St. Peter in his epistles:
"Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comes from one's own interpretation." - 2 Peter 1:20
"He [St. Paul] writes this way in all his letters, speaking in them about such matters. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction." - 2 Peter 3:16
One of the two major tenets of Protestantism (Sola Scriptura) is in direct contradiction to what Peter tells us in his epistle.

Academia:
-obsessed with navel gazing
-slow to respond to changes outside their bubble
-professional divisions marked by pettiness over funding and stature
-arguments frequently centered on transmission, reception, or interpretation of material; few debates about the merit of material itself
-encircled by a thin, blue line of profession protection; administration closes ranks to protect the outlandish and guilty unless they have no other choice
Organized Religion:
- All that same shite, but I get to wear a robe on weekends.

PCUSA is trash.
PCA is on the SJW trajectory.

Very concerned about what takes place this week as I attend a umc church.

I’m an officer in the PCA. Other than a few churches in the Seattle area, the PCA is in pretty good shape as far as staying conservative.
Our biggest problems are actual diversity. Lots of rich white folks attend PCA churches.

Holy shite. Screen name well chosen, bro.

I don’t disagree with your stance to get on with it, but - as others have pointed out - UMC properties aren’t autonomous. Therefore, the conservative folks are likely the ones to be forced out.

I agree on PCUSA. However, PCA is trending toward becoming more conservative.
They don’t ordain women...and definitely not lgbtq.

ordination of LGBTQ clergy.
Hilarious this is somehow even an issue.
So they are just supposed to ignore all the parts of the bible that call homosexuality a sinful abomination? What other parts do they get to ignore?
Do thieves get to ignore all the "don't steal" parts?
It's the Bible, not a choose your own adventure book.

Everyone screaming about LGBT issues, the main problem is that EVERY single denomination that has chosen to ordain women has ended up here. I have some great friends at UMC churches that are asking themselves how they got here. They don't like the answer.
In the PCA, there are a small handful of churches in the Seattle area that are pushing to ordain women as elders. They aren't getting anywhere with it, and they may leave over it.
The last vote to actually commission a study about it failed 446-427. That wasn't to ordain women as elders - that was to just have a study for it.
The PCUSA lost 187 churches and 95,000 members last year while the PCA added 68 and 19,000. The EPC is conservative but they allow the local church to decide on whether they ordain women or not. Its growing as well. Presbyterianism is actually trending the right way.
