I still consider myself a Methodist even though I left the church a few years ago. I felt it became difficult to grow as a Christian in that setting. If one attends nearly any service, it will be evident the institution is spiritually dead. Most services have the feel of a funeral for a person nobody cared about, and it is obvious the pastors beat around the bush when speaking of God, while copying and pasting quotes from Facebook, and calling it a sermon, instead of preaching out of a Biblical worldview.

The fact that the bishops feel the need to bring this issue to a vote explains exactly why it is dying. The Methodist Church reflects the society it is supposed to change.

I can’t figure out if this vote is a call to SJWs to attend, or if it’s a way to put a bullet in it.

I would invite you to join us in a service but that would give up my location.

So my Church is the exception rather than the rule. "Spiritually dead" is anything but what our Church is. I don't agree with all that we do but we are active in many ministries outside of our walls including feeding the homeless and hungry, missions in Honduras and supporting the Hispanics in our nearby community. I would invite you to our service but that would give up my location.

In a prominent United Methodist Church I grew up in, the choir director lived with the organist for years. I believe they’ve both moved on from the church but are still together.

They lived in my neighborhood, across the street from one of my best friends for almost a decade. They are both great people and did great for my little sister’s journey in both the Church and helped her musically.

Given the gays love for drama and the performing arts, this is most certainly not a unique situation. Driving away the gays from the UMC will be a mistake.

He loves America and doesn't put gay pride and BLM signs on his church. Unlike your pastor.

It blows my mind that affluent, middle age men agree to sit in a room and discuss the theological implications of what other people do with their genitals...and consider such activity completely normal.

“Oh honey, what did you do at work today?”

“Me and the other elders sat around talking about the appropriate church issued punishment for participating in butt stuff.”

GROWN arse MEN ACTUALLY TAKE THAT shite SERIOUSLY. They do it with a straight face and share those job activities with other members of society with pride.

11 year old cheerleaders think that shite is bizarre

WTF??

nobody is driving shite away. Anybody is welcome to take part if they want to be a christian and partake in christian doctrine and scripture and teachings. it is weak arse churches caving. you cannot just keep revising shite to fit your effed up narrative. If you want that do not partake. do something else. This is pure leftist SJW bullshite. change cultural norms.

i am sure some killers want murder being wrong revised. how about that? maybe some other shite?

My wife and I left the church two years ago, we went to what was considered a conservative UMC, but it was still a lot of SJW, racism, pro illegal, pro brown people etc......

Probably nobody

That doesn’t make the described behavior any less bizarre.

Imagine having ones entire career, reputation and self worth wrapped up in an activity that not only has no objective real world significance but requires constant discussion of the bedroom habits of other adults.

I mean, what happens one day when you’re 53 and wake up to the realization that you wasted your life on that shite?

This is what i don't get. So a segment of the church has decided that the believe the Bible is accepting of homosexuality (Sodom Gommorah was about not being hospitable???) and openly go against the UMC doctrine...and yet nothing is done? They should have to drop the UMC label and church affiliation. Why are we even having to figure out how to maintain one church - this is bothersome. I know pensions and property are a major component of the issue but...why ? That's not Eternal. I love my UMC church its Christ centered. Not fire brimstone as our 1st Bapt but very much about bringing people to Christ. That being said i refused to "join" the Methodist church. I know of no mandate of that in the Bible. Honestly...the denomination is just a name. I don't see The need to give extra if my church leaves The UMC and has to pay The UMC church (like my in laws did with their presby church) my church didnt move off the Biblical position. I started to sour on the overall UMC with The open letter to JeffSessions The letter that some UMC pastors and church officers signed off on censuring Jeff Sessions over the border family separation policy was an overt political act that i thought the higher ups should have taken some action to reprimand (though looking at the location of the 400ish signers were overwhelmingly NW and NE an Chi )

Some left winger who thinks Jesus would sky scream and let Brown people move here illegally, have free healthcare and education from our tax dollars and proceed to outbreed us at a pace to where we become socialist in another 30 years

I think your criticism should be directed toward those going on the offensive (sticking behaviors held abhorrent in a private group's face) rather than those they are forcing change upon.

That's like criticizing black NAACP leaders for worrying about KKK members trying to infiltrate their organization.

The EPC allows the local churches to decide whether they want to ordain women as ruling elders but they do not allow women as teaching elders.

The PCA is holding strong on the issue because they know that egalitarianism is what killed the PCUSA and Episcopal Church and has a dagger in the once great UMC.

There is cultural pressure for the Weat Coast Presbyteries to push for women to be ordained, but the PCA is strong enough to withstand it for now. Tim Keller running the show in New York City for so long helped us keep even our Northeast Presbyteries conservative.

The problem begins with believing that the Bible is the unerring word of God rather than a flawed document created by flawed men.
