yea, he's sneaky good at getting on base. Honestly I rather have him in the 1 hole than 2 hole.
1. Broussard
2. Dup
3. Smith
4. Cab
5. Watson
But I would still like to see dup in leadoff
But also to point out, there is minimal differences in lineup changes unless you completely screw it up

I like it, let Smith double and don't waste a big bat to bunt him over then let AD8 drive him in!

And then we were told Garza to 4. Maybe PM wants some more fastballs for Watson. But at what expense? None for Garza?
Over rating protection there

Everyone is ejaculating over Garza protecting Watson but we can't make note of Garza getting none?
Okay.
Okay.

But what if it's pre-injury Broussard that shows up? Would be real nice. Real nice.
Oh I’m not bashing the idea. I’m just surprised it could work out amazingly and now is the time to find out if he can handle it.
If he can bat a high level then holy shite watch out

I'll be honest, we are so loaded just pick names out of the hat and I'll probably still pitch a tent.

4, and 5 hitters all hit with runners in scoring position more often than the number 3 hitter
Well yeah because they’re hitting behind the 2/3 hitters who are usually the best players on the team.
This is a perfect example of someone trying to use advanced metrics and having no fricking clue how to interpret them with any common sense.

What a crock of shite. We all finally thought we'd get Dup in the leadoff, but no. We end up with Smith there but Broussard in the 2? Are we just going to bunt every time Smith gets on base? Is that the thought? And then we were told Garza to 4. Maybe PM wants some more fastballs for Watson. But at what expense? None for Garza?
Paul Manieri said last week sometime that Garza wasn’t ready to bat in the 3 hole and duplantis would at least start the season there.
The hope is to let Garza get accustomed to college pitching and then have him at 3 and dups at 1 by conference play.
Calm your arse down you know damn good and well that this lineup is going to last all season

Seriously though, Walker not starting bothers me more. Because the excuse is bullshite.

I guess I understand why people want Duplantis at leadoff but he is a really good 3 hole hitter. People have wanted him at lead off since he stepped on campus but CPM likes him with the opportunity to drive in runs because he is great at it. 3 hole has that opportunity more often than lead off.

Explain the metric the 3 hitter hits with 2 outs and 0 runners on base more than anyone? Why would you also want maybe your best hitter hitting in this situation more than anyone?

Bio
MLB Draft: 38th Round in 2018 (St. Louis Cardinals)
Perhaps the most versatile athlete in LSU’s incoming recruiting class who was a highly recruited quarterback in addition to being a pitcher/third baseman coming out of high school … possesses a mid-90s fastball and a swing-and-miss changeup with excellent ability to pound the strike zone … his confidence, competitiveness, and maturity on the mound should allow him to make a quick transition to the college game and help him contribute at a high level to the pitching staff.
Prior to LSU
Selected in the 38th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals … rated the No. 78 prospect in the MLB Draft by MLB Pipeline and rated No. 1 Player in Arkansas by Perfect Game and Prep Baseball Report … named the 2018 Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year and received 2017 All-America recognition from Under Armour … posted a 7-0 record on the mound with a 0.51 ERA in 2018, striking out 85 batters while allowing 12 walks … also batted .540 with 11 home runs, 43 RBI, 35 runs and a 1.034 slugging percentage.
Personal
Full name is Kenneth Jaden Hill … brother of former MLB 10th-round draft pick Kentrell Hill … cousin, Cedrick Harris, was an outfielder at LSU from 1997-2000, and he was the starting centerfielder for the Tigers’ 2000 College World Series championship team … majoring in sport administration at LSU … born December 12, 1999.

I've heard the same, I hope its not a confidence issue

Plenty opportunity for that if bourssard k's in his first AB

Yeah, my excitement stems from all those names being listed there, not the order in which they are.
I do like to see high OBP guys stacked together so having Smith, Broussard, and Dup together works for me. Even moreso if Hughes comes around in the 9 spot.

A juco transfer. We know you played juco ball but don’t pretend the pitching is the same.
Once again calm your arse down. You do this every year.

I saw the Broussard in the 2 hole coming. The last five scrimmages, CPM had him there. Wait to see how it works before jumping to conclusions. As for Smith leading off, we have seen this before. I think CPM is more comfortable doing what has worked in the past.
Posted on 2/14/19 at 2:41 pm to bubbz
If Hill can pitch how he pitched in the outings I saw him the past few weeks, he isn't giving up that spot.
Posted on 2/14/19 at 2:41 pm to lsupride87
Yes, but over the course of a season(more so in MLB with 162 games) the 3 hole hitter is going to get more plate appearances than 5 hole.
