dissent from Darwin

Over 1,000 doctoral scientists from around the world have signed a statement publicly expressing their skepticism about the contemporary theory of Darwinian evolution. The statement, located online at dissentfromdarwin.org, reads: “We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged.”

“Because no scientist can show how Darwin’s mechanism can produce the complexity of life, every scientist should be skeptical,” said biologist Douglas Axe, director of Biologic Institute. “The fact that most won’t admit to this exposes the unhealthy effect of peer pressure on scientific discourse.”
quote:

Yet public TV programs, educational policy statements, and science textbooks have asserted that Darwin’s theory of evolution fully explains the complexity of living things. The public has been assured that all known evidence supports Darwinism and that virtually every scientist in the world believes the theory to be true.

Nearly everyone who gets swept up in these debates fears whatever the truth is.

Good to read about.

Healthy skepticism and debate - can't be afraid of that

Darwin himself went to the grave a bit fearful of what his theories actually entailed.

When has random mutation and natural selection been insufficient in a smaller example? They can say it’s insufficient, but why?

So what you are saying is, that one the most widely unquestioned scientific theories gets debated more honestly than climate change within scientific circles?

I have no problem with people questioning scientific assumptions, but ID is not anywhere close to a good replacement for evolution and natural selection.

Theory = idea that just hasn’t yet been proven wrong.

Sad more people don’t understand this most basic principle.

It is sad when science is not based on fact. "Consensus" means nothing, if the facts are unable to support the theory.

Just look at your hand. The fingers are not all the same length? Why? Each finger is composed of multiple bones. Why not one?
No way something could "mutate" or by chance just grow by its self into a human. No science has ever proven either of these are possible, much less show it has actually happened.

I knew this board is a bit screwy when it comes to science but this is just laughable and pathetic.

There is a mountain of evidence for evolution. It’s of course fine to be skeptical but to be dismissive of evolution as a whole is just lazy ignorance and inexcusable in the internet age.

Take one sliver of the mountain of evidence— the fossil record. Unless you believe that the fossil record is all a fabrication to dismiss intelligent design, it alone provides the evidence that life on this planet has changed drastically over billions of years. Unless the intelligent designer’s method of creation is via evolution the evidence clearly does not favor a singular creation event for life on the planet.

Unless the reference is to abiogenesis, 'dissentfromdarwin' is simply wrong.

Have always been fascinated by pictures of animals trapped in amber, or fossilized tree sap. Almost invariably, these are dated to tens of millions of years, and look almost exactly like their modern day descendants.

Looks like a scorpion to me.

Looks like a lizard.

Looks like a baby bird.

Looks like a bee.

Looks like a flea.

Looks like a spider.
