I’m holding out hope that the ending will be some kind of twist. I don’t want it to be the predicted outcome that most predicted 3 episodes ago
That kinda risks it being a shitty ending though. You could argue that’s where season 1 failed
Even though a lot have predicted the overall plot (or close to it) I feel like they’ve done a great job at keeping it enthralling and throwing in twists along the way, which isn’t easy to do. Ali and Dorffs phenomenal acting plays a big factor as well. The guy who plays Tom Purcell has been incredible too

Anyone feel like Mike was the one who helped Julie escape or at least helped her at some point later in after she got free? There has to be a reason for showing his character again as an adult.

Just got completely caught up on this season. Is this thread safe or are there people with very accurate “theories” posting like in the old true detective threads

I originally thought that Hayes' daughter died young and he doesn't remember,
In the last episode toward the end when Old Hays and West are talking in his office, we get a clue about what happened to Becca.
When Hays leaves the room to take a leak, West picks up Amelia's book that Hays had highlighted and written in the margins. On the left hand page there is a description of a SUV crash and Hays' wires struggle to find her phone. She reveals that her daughter and husband are both injured and I think she says her body is "broken".
Something makes me think that the crash was Waynes fault because he tried to get the phone away from Amelia.

Maybe the black card parked outside his house ran them off the road!

Also, what's the deal with HBO shows making pig/chicken operations out to be a bunch of centers for pedo ring/kid freaks? similar story in Sharp Objects
Could the chicken company be Tyson.

Remind me when Mike was shown as an adult

This past episode. The landscaping guy in the blue truck outside of that halfway house or whatever when Amelia was talking to that runaway chick who knew Julie. They panned put the window to his truck and you see ardoin landscaping sign on the side.

I'm going to guess that they're together

Possibly. Imdb shows a character played by a young girl who looks about 12 with the name Lucy ardoin. And remember Amelia saying on the playground when he was a kid at school that she thought he had a crush on Julie.

Roland is a free mason. Was wearing a ring in episode 1 or 2.
Never trust a free mason.

I thought Hays rolling up the paper and testing the peephole proved the hole was too long and the note would've gotten stuck in the hole?
You're assuming the note has to drop through. It made it far enough out the hole to be grabbed by the person on the other side.
Besides, he said they were passing notes as an old man to Roland, to which Roland agreed.
Regarding the notes, I'm sure someone will produce a screen capture showing them all, but the one that has been most clear says "Don't Listen." To what should she have not listened?
The “peephole” being used to pass notes was actually revealed 2 episodes ago, but they didn’t explicitly state it until now

So when you say "it was revealed," you mean you correctly postulated that was the purpose of the hole in a thread three weeks ago?

So--why is only Hayes shown interviewed for the 2015 television show? Why not Roland? Could the interviewer actually be FBI and trying to entice Hays into confiding his involvement into either the crime or the cover-up or at least something he has divulged up to that point? If so that would blow my mind.

I think they did ask Roland to do the interview, but he turned them down.

I watched it again last night and enjoyed it even more. However, the scene where Tom was able to listen in to the officers talking about the cousin was really dumb. That part bothered me this time.

Its 100% a Tyson/Bill Clinton thing.

Pretty sure he said that to Hays when they were sitting on Roland's porch taking
