It's officially official on the Ohio River.
The Cincinnati Bengals announced Monday that Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor will be their next head coach.
"I am happy and fortunate to join the Cincinnati Bengals as head coach," Taylor said in a statement released by the team. "This is a great organization with good people and a rich history, and I am excited to get started. I am looking to add to that history by setting high standards, and holding everyone here accountable to those standards. There is a lot of work to do, and this is Day 1. We're going to attack every day with enthusiasm to get this team ready to go."
Taylor will succeed Marvin Lewis who was fired in January after 16 seasons at the helm in Cincinnati. Lewis was the winningest coach in Bengals history (131-122-3).
Taylor spent two seasons on Sean McVay's staff in Los Angeles, the first as an assistant wide receivers coach and the second as Jared Goff's QB coach. Before that, Taylor was an offensive coordinator and QB coach at the University of Cincinnati and with the Miami Dolphins. This is his first head-coaching gig.
"Zac is a bright coach with an offensive mind and background, which is important to have in today's NFL," Bengals president Mike Brown offered. "And he's young. He embraces new ideas and new ways to do things, which will be a good thing for us. I believe our team will be exciting and fun to watch with him at the helm."
The 35-year-old Taylor will be introduced as the Bengals' 10th head coach in their history on Tuesday.

Based on last night’s results, no.

The McVay stuff is out of control. Seriously.

Hey look, another young "quarterback whisperer". I feel like most of these won't work out very well.

I’ll take him over having Lewis around for a hundredth season.

The McVay tree is a goddamn forest

Based on last night’s results, no.
Good coaches can hide a players faults for a while, and then defenses adjust and the players hsa to show if he truly has it or not.
It looks like Goff truly sucks donkey balls based on the second half of this year and the coaching staff worked wonders making him look competent

Damn good hire, IMO.
Better than status quo or hiring some burn-out retread.

Yeah I figure a lot of teams who based their hires off his instant success probably looked around nervously last night.
The real consequence is that this is a gross overrcorrection to the anti-retread crowd. Which short term is a good thing that could lead to more creativity in the league. However I’m afraid the long term effect will be if these hires bomb that we’ll go hard back in overrcorection the opposite direction and John Fox/Jeff Fisher level coaches will start getting calls again

Well, that's a bit of a reach.

He was absolutely lost last night all game long. Had maybe 2-3 good throws.

They hired a 35 year old position coach to run the whole franchise. Sounds solid

Taylor won't have to worry about being fired if he has years of bad seasons
Posted on 2/4/19 at 4:03 pm to EyeTwentyNole
The Rams hired a 32 year old to run their franchise. I think that has turned out well

what do people want?
keep marvin lewis? nope
hire one of the same 10 guys that have already had their chances? nope
take a chance on young guy? nope
ok.....so what should they do?
Posted on 2/4/19 at 4:23 pm to TexasTiger08
McVay was at least a coordinator before the Rams hired him
Posted on 2/4/19 at 4:25 pm to TechDawg2007
They didn't end up hiring Hue Jackson so it's a win

This. I’ll take this over keeping Marvin or hiring a guy whose been fired from 2-3 other places.
