This isn’t a race. It’s your life, and it’s not made up of possessions or plaques on the wall but rather a quality of life. The biggest problem with 30 somethings is that you haven’t figured out what’s going to make you happy just yet, and so you compare yourselves to others constantly, which only leads to a feeling of disappointment, when you should focus on just achieving your own personal goals and just living life to the fullest because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.

I have a question for all of you who are over 30 years old. Go back to when you were exactly 30 years old.

OK

What was your life like at that particular age?

Not too bad. Dating my wife while living in a high rise in Rover Oaks Houston

Were you where you wanted to be in life?

Yep

Were you in the job/career that you always wanted?

No, but I want to be an adviser for Jeff Bezos making 10 mil a year. it's hard to find that career these days.

Were you married with kids?

nope bu dating my wife

Were you a home-owner?

soon to be

I ask because I currently am 30 years old and honestly feel like I haven’t achieved much compared to my peers who are the same age.

you shouldn't judge yourself based on others. that breed envy and jealousy

I have a decent life but wonder if I’m far behind in the race. This may be a silly question, but is 30 too young to have a mid-life crisis?

ask yourself "why am I not happy" "what do I need to do to get there"

If you're answer is that you want to be an adviser for Jeff Bezos making 10 mil a year, you may be unhappy for a while.

I had a decent job, but was going though a divorce that set me back years financially. Had a hot younger girlfriend though.

Now I’m 44, married (to the hot younger girlfriend) with 3 kids, have a good paying job, nice house, etc.

Work hard, stay focused on your goals, make good decisions, don’t be afraid to take calculated risks if the upside is there.

Race? Race to what? death? Live your life like you want to. Your peers are looking at you thinking you have it made.

As for the OP, 30 is very young. You have many paths you can take from here on in.

The oldest "millennials" will be 40 next year. Not sure why I mention that, but it should serve as a reminder how fast time flies.

We are all headed to the same place. Be the person you want to be and let others do the same. There is no “right “ way to live life as long as you aren’t harming others.

I take it one day at a time. No different now than When I was 30. Who can say what tomorrow may bring.
