What second half adjustment against Ole Miss did WW make?

I swear, when I watch basketball, and I've been watching every level for my entire life, when teams make adjustments on defense or offense sometimes I fail to see adjustments being made from a 30,000 foot view. I guess it's because my focus is on the ball instead of the players doing work away from the ball.

Last night the Tigers made half time adjustments that obviously worked. In the first half Ole Miss' guard Tyree who is fast as lightening was giving the the Tigers fits. Tyree scored 9 of his 12 points in the first half. He had almost a third of the Ole Miss first half points.

It was obvious at least to me that LSU had to adjust their defense to account for Tyree in the second half. Tyree is not an assist monster so stopping his scoring was key to decreasing his productivity.

LSU made adjustments and shut Tyree down in the second half. But what adjustments did they make? I missed it.

Did they put Smart on Taylor on Tyree?

Not only did they shut down Tyree the Tigers seemed like they started rebounding the ball better by getting their body on a man when the shots were taken.

To Ole Miss' credit when the Tigers shut down Tyree in the second half Davis for Ole Miss picked up the slack. It just wasn't enough.

Attack the lane and get to the rim. Rebound better on the other side. They did better at both of those things in the 2nd half.

Honestly, we played pretty poorly in the first half. We allowed Ole Miss to get several offensive rebounds and we missed some easy looks. When we were tied at half after playing that poorly, I knew our chances were good.

I think a big thing wasn’t necessarily an adjustment but our 3 ball started to fall and theirs started to miss.

Other than that, I’ve got nothing.

He told them if they don't start rebounding and quit missing layups, then he is inviting Shaq over to PIITB after the game. Pretty simple, really.

I'm not so sure we had massive adjustments, we just hit more shots. We had quite a few rim out on us in that first half. Also Ole Miss made the adjustment to a 1-3-1 trap zone and we picked it apart for easy buckets as well in the 2nd half.

The biggest difference was turnovers and giving up offensive boards.

We had 10 turnovers in the first half, only 3 in the second half. We gave up 10 offensive boards in the first half, only 5 in the second half.

Those are huge changes on the offensive and defensive ends in terms of limiting extra opportunities for them and getting shots off for us.

At one point in the first half I recall seeing that they were outrebounding us by a 2-1 margin, something like 22-11.

We finished the game within 2 total rebounds, so it definitely improved.

They weren't getting all those second-chance points in the second half.

Not letting Tyree score in the second half was huge. And idk if schuler for them did any damage in the second either.

Stopped giving them space on ball screens was crucial and finishing defense by rebounding much better.

We did a much better job of spreading the court and delivering the ball inside which opened up kick-out 3 opportunities. Having to defend more of the court wore OM out and over time lead to easier and easier scoring opportunities. It was a really smart adjustment on WW’s part.

Wade summed it up best, they were tentative and tight the first half
